ello all
can anyone help? with front cabin a/c on the compressor knocks every time it engages but only for a few seconds, with the rear cabin on as well it knocks most of the time. the gas appears to be clear until the compressor engages and then looks like the head on a pint of john smiths!! also does anyone know what controls the intercooler fan?
many thanks
phil

Hi Phil,
If as you say when both or either sections are running the sight glass looks like a pint of john smiths then your system needs a re-gas,the system should run pretty much clear without bubbles in i would suspect that either the system has a leak (unlikely as it would probably all go)or the system has just simply depleted over time through lack of use,it is imperitive the system is run at least once a month to ensure the seals in the system remian lubricated. If you loose all system gas a safety device will cut in and you will not be able to engage the a/c at all ,so imho as your system is low on gas this is whats causing the knocking your getting,(allbeit I've replied the long way round sorry :D )
As for the intercooler fan that is controlled via a temp sender unit and will only run when the pre determined tempreture is reached, highly unlikey in this country unless we have a mini heatwave again and it gets a bit warmer and your stuck in trafffic at the time, hope this helps atb
