|
|
After the great news that My Delica was ready 2 weeks early, I picked it up this weekend... but question..
Anyone know where I can get a facia adaptor for my L400 so that I can replace the standard stereo... none of my local auto shops have anything that fits... and according to all of them, no Mitsi's need adaptors...
Cheers

Andy, this has come up loads of times. Accessory shops and Halfords generally not much use but if you go to one of the proper car stereo installation places they'll be able to sort you an adaptor and a pocket that goes under the stereo. You'll also need an adaptor lead which they'll supply for a tenner or so.
Have you already got the stereo? If not, then it may be worthwhile going to a proper place as their prices are no more than Halfords and they'll install for free most of the time - including adaptors you may need.
Make sure you read up on removing the centre console or you'll be kicking yourself as well as being £80 out of pocket! _________________ Pete

Got the stereo, and taken the dash off already to fix the clinometer... just need the facia adaptor... but most of the places I called over the weekend had not clue at all what I was on about when I said for a Delica... just wondered if anyone had a maker/part number so I can try that...

as far as i know, it is just a standard size, just tell them what you want it for, the vehicle shouldn't matter |

That's the point though astra... they aren't the same... it all depends on if it's flush mount, behind the dash mount, curved dash, straight dash, DIN, double DIN, etc etc... none of the ones i've tried so far are an good, including the generic double DIN ones...
Hence the request for maker/part number :D

wtf?? lol
when we had our double din stereo taken out of our exceed and our smart single one put in, we put it into an alarm and stereo place and they didn't bat an eyelid.. maybe worth taking the Deli down there and showing them? |

I know it's a behind the dash, flat mount, double DIN adaptor... but like I say... none of the places around me... from Halfords to alarm shops, from auto parts stores to specialist stereo places have anything that will fit... they are all based on make/model of motors and have nothing generic that will fit...
if no-one can tell me a maker and part number for it... can somone who has got one, tell me the name of the shop they got it from and contact details (preferably in the Kent/London area although they could post it I guess) so that I can get one...
Thanks

Andy, mine always come from Road Radio, Church Road, Hove
tel 01273 726626. They also sell the adapter lead to convert to the standard ISO type. I've never had a problem with them not knowing what to fit so give them a call. If they don't want to post then they could give you a part number, or I could pop along to collect and post it to you myself. _________________ Pete

Thanks for the info Pete... unfortunately... every time they fit a stereo in a Delica, they custom make the adaptor to fit the stereo they are installing... they don't have any standard plates they can post... :?
Guess I will be making my own plate at this rate... as I think it's gonna be quicker than trying to find one...
Cheers

I had the standard double din unit in my Deli', got myself a double din to single adaptor and used the original brackets to support it, had the radio at top and pocket at the bottom.
Now changed back to a new Kenwood double din unit using the original brackets.
Sorry don't know part number, just picked it off the rack. _________________ Beat

Thinking about it, all the adaptors are are a couple of pieces out of a Mecano set that joing the single DIN stereo to a pocket. You're right - it might be quicker to just make one up! _________________ Pete

Andy, there's 2 different wiring adaptors depending on the model year just to make things more complicated for you!
On the earliest L400 Delicas, the stereo wiring has 2 plugs, on the later ones it only has one plug.
The one for the older vehicle is the Autoleads PC2-12-4 and the one for the newer vehicle with only one plug on its harness is Autoleads PC2-46-4. I've had to use each of them in the past. You may be able to order them direct from Autoleads http://www.autoleads.co.uk/.
I know they cost £10 from Road Radio and I believe they are more like £14 from Halfords. Road Radio stock them, Halfords have to order in. _________________ Pete
