Does anyone have the easiest solution to a body or suspension lift for a 99 3.0 Chamonix? I don't particularly need more ground clearance. I'm looking maybe 75-100 mm to enable bigger wheels and arches. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thank you. Tim |

Hi, no body lift available as the body is welded to the chassis, a 2" suspension lift can be done by adding longer rear springs and adjusting the torsion bars _________________ 2nd gear low and go go go!

The best you can get is to put spacers between the brackets and chassis. Without getting too technical, which would require expensive mods, perhaps 2" (25ml) spacers would be the maximum.
Without any mods the largest tyre size would be 30". With mods that are just a case of knocking back the front arch seam and spacers and rfemoval of some of the front and rear arch bits. Longer HD coil springs and spacers at the back, on the drop links and Brake Bias compensator, then 33" tyres. However those will also be wider and require spacers on the hub, plus wider wheel arches.
Re-indexing and adjusting the Torsion bars will starighten the body up, then re-aligning the wheels, at a specialist laser equipped garage will be required.
If you do do a lift like that then first check your insurer is happy about it, as should there be an accident of any kind they could refuse to pay out.
This was my last one, with new 30" wheels, and plenty of wheel clearance still left. That only required replacing the rear coil springs, re-indexing and adjusting the torsion bars, with a wheel alignment for a couple of hundred quid, all inclusive:-
This sort of lift will cost a few thousand:-

With big lifts, like you propose, you increase the angle between the prop shafts and the diffs and transfer box, which reduce efficiency and increase wear in the prop and drive shaft UJs. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |
