|

Hi,
I have been planning for a long time now to remove the bull bars and make a new set giving a better approach angle and incorporating a winch as well. However time isn't there for me to do it, so I'm thinking of just modifying the stock bull bars to make them look a bit more sexy but I can't for the life of me work out how to get the plastic trim off! It looks like two screws on each side holding the infill pieces in place and then it unclips - am I on the right track?
Cheers

You have to remove the complete bumper, as the clips and bolts holding it on are at the back.
There is one vertical bolt going upwards into the chassis, on each side, holding the legs in place, plus one horizontal bolt, holding a side plate.
Then on either side of the grill, on the outer edge of the plastic surround you will see two black plastic caps. those are prised of, revealing a nut over a stud and a bolt.

Thanks for that Lewis, lots of detail there; it almost looks like the plastic can be removed with the bull bars in place, but I'm reading that you can't, is that the case?
Cheers

Depends on if you want damage or not. _________________

I followed the guidance in Lewis's post very recently, and taking off the bull bars was nothing like as complicated as I had feared.
The only hitch for me was one of the three main bolts to the chassis being very hard to shift. It amused me to find the four other fixings behind the small black caps (clean as a whistle).....I had always wondered what they were!
I was able to have the front panel off and get the air con compressor fan assembly out, which I never thought I would manage. |

That was so easy - when you know how 😁
They're off and dismantled in about 20 mins, now I have to come up with a plan of how to make them more sexy!
