I have owned my Delica since 2015 and in all that time I have never got round to seeing if I can get the air con to work. The belt was disconnected when I got it so I've never bothered with it.
With that in mind what do you think my chances will be of getting it up and running? Is it going to cost an arm and a leg or do you think it may be worth giving it a go? If so how would you go about getting it sorted? Are there parts that I am almost definitely going to need considering it hasn't been used in that long? |

Could be expensive depending on the issue but why not put a belt on it first and see what it does, either the compressor will turn or it won't; you then have a starting point,

Chances are the seals in the system will have dried up and shrunk, also there will probably be some water in the system. If the compressor turns on the belt, it is worth taking it to an aircon specialist who can purge the system, check for leaks without filling it with expensive refrigerant. With any luck, PAG oil in the system will revive (expand) the seals, and allow it to be filled with refrigerant gas. I had all this done on my L300 a few years ago (it hadn't worked since I bought it). It worked well the first summer, not so well the second, and by the third, all the gas had escaped. It is very important to run your A/C at least every month for 10 minutes to keep the PAG oil circulating, and your seals fully expanded. (which I didn't!) _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |
