Guys and Gals,
Over the past few weeks both Claire and I have been climbing into our beloved Deli and thinking we have wet ourselves in excitement as both the front seats seem damp.
I have checked the floor area and nothing appears wet and the roof lining around the sunroof and nothing untoward there, The seats have admitedly seen considerably better days, but wondered if anyone else suffers this strange feeling? Or is that the seats are so far gone that they are acting like a sponge to the moisture and condsensation in the car and in turn making us feel incontenient ( excuse the spelling ).
Ohh the rear seats never feel damp, Can't check the middle captain seats as the kids car seats are fitted to them but christ the fronts are damp.... and before you go asking no we haven't been dogging and got some over excited blow in the front _________________ 100% BIO DIESEL ! Try covering the seat with a plastic bag and then leaving a sheet of kitchen roll on top....do similar somewhere in the back....
if when you go in they are ALL damp then it must be condensations, if just the front ones are then it must be falling on to them...if none of em are then frankly I'm beginning to doubt your assertions about your ahmmmm dogging habits!
It can be useful to use a multi meter set to read resistance to take comparative readings to determine comparative levels of dampness as well _________________ A Delica - ITS LIKE A SWEDISH BRICK...ONLY BIGGER! |

If it is the front seats then I would suspect a blocked drain pipe in the sunroof??
Condensation is a possibility, but slide back the sunroof, gently poke an 'unbent' coat hanger down the drain pipes and see how you get on? _________________ '93 L300 Mystery Machine (Now in the hands of a new owner)

used to have car with heated seats, if turned on a few people said they thought they had wet themselves....don't suppose you have heated seats and left em turned on by mistake? _________________ A Delica - ITS LIKE A SWEDISH BRICK...ONLY BIGGER! |

Kick I wish I had ( i am used to those from our Mondeo, but that had leather seats ) or at least I don't think I have..... if i remember rightly the switch is below the ashtray.... If that is correct then no.
God If I had I'd be drying them out all the time.
Bruce, I will have to take a look into that thanks, only thing is the headlining doesn't appear wet just the front seats. Plus it might be worth checking the sunroof is actually closing properly as well I suppose and not just assuming it is all okay !
Think I will try the plastic bag and kitchen roll method tomorrow. _________________ 100% BIO DIESEL ! Well not quite at the moment

Might sound daft, but ditch the kitchen towel and sprinkle a fine dusting of talc over the bin liner/plastic bag instead. This will leave an exact indication of where any drips (if any) are coming from!
I've tried this in the past to trace water leaks under dashboards and it has worked everytime! In your case, wherever you see a drip mark in the talc, it will have come from directly above..... _________________ '93 L300 Mystery Machine (Now in the hands of a new owner)

thanks andy I don't think it could be this as I normally get in the side door whilst loading the kids in the back so I couldn't be me opening the doors that would cause this. The strange thing is the seats don't look wet just when you touch them they are really very damp.
In fact I am going to nip outside right now and see if the damp is picked up with kitchen roll....it has been slinging it down here today and this evening so if it is the sunroof leaking then apart from being mightly screwed there should be a swimming pool in the cabin right now. _________________ 100% BIO DIESEL ! Mine did that on the drivers seat before I bought it. It was the drain holes from the sun roof.
Previous owner had them 'poked' out then blown through with an air hose.
Be careful if you use an air hose 'cause I've heard you can blow the rubber tubes off inside the A pillars. I'm not totally sure on that.

That'll be a daytime job then.. blow the kids are awake so little chance of getting that done anytime soon. I presume the holes are towards the front and fairly obvious.? _________________ 100% BIO DIESEL ! Well not quite at the moment

If I remember correctly, they are at the front in the corners.
Good luck with it.
Re your other post:- window switch
You should have drivers window rocker
passenger window
lock/unlock all

Cheers Keefe. Just been out to take a look but under the security light I could see a thing.. I will have to have a word with the one that must be obeyed and see if I can get 15 minutes to have a poke around. Seems weird how the backs of the chairs are getting wet though and the drains being up front. Oh well plastic backs in place on one seat and see what happens. _________________ 100% BIO DIESEL ! Crystallite windows are sealed all around, I don't think that they will leak. There is a possibility that the previous owner had sat nav or TV aerials fitted to the roof and the holes left behind are leaking - worth a look.

AH HA A Roof Aeriel inbetween the crystalites, look like the base of the aeriel is still there but no whip. But that is almost 2/3rd of the way down mmm. Think I will go down the sunroof drain holes first like Bruce and Keefe mentioned. _________________ 100% BIO DIESEL ! Well not quite at the moment
