Hey Bruce! Can you sort the one out on REDNECKS post on page 1. It gave me a stiff neck trying to see that. _________________

I should be okay as the unit covers the sunroof only and i won't be able to put a games station in the animal unless it will communicate with the motherboard as the screen is a true LVDS unit and will only display what the computer wants it to as it uses 24 cables direct to the board.....
So if it gets swiped then it is more or less useless unless someone gets an interface board for it and they are not cheap....

Been a bit slow on the P4 front due to other commitments but back on with it today....
The 8" touch screen was going to go where the stereo lives but that is out the window as the screen is bigger than the hole and not just by a little bit either...
Therefore after having A lot of head scratching the compass pod is moving from the top of the console to the roof where the rear mirror is......
The touch screen is then going where ithe pod is...
Watch this space

By the time this thing is in it will be well obsolete.....
Got my little animal back today with it's roof repaired.
Body specialist had to cut a 4" squre out of the roof about 2" above the w/screen slap bang in the centre.....
First thought was that a stone chip was causing the bubling of paint indicating rot but when it was ground away the problem was found to be rot from inside. Suspect condensation above the sunroof motor has attacked the metal and it had eaten it's way through.
Long and short was he cut it out, put in a plate and resprayed......
Perfect job....
Touch screen housing is being vacuum formed this week and the pods are already off in preperation....
Again we are off and running.....
Just watch some burger trip me up!...

It's getting to close to christmas and the little time i have of my own is somehow dissapearing before i even get my bits out to crack on........
However the pod mould for the touch screen has been done and even a couple of prototype pods have been pulled off it so i can have a look and a play.
This is the mould after it was shaped.....
So happy that it is more or less right so two prototypes where pulled off it using a thin plastic so i could play with it.
The prototypes are in black but i can get hold of roughly the same Colour with the leatheret finish as the dashboard and made of ABS so it will be more or less indestructable.
It comes off the mould complete, all that needs doing is the hole cutting for the screen (or anything else) in the front which will be done tommorow hopefully.....

30mm MDF, PVA woodglue, bandsaw, belt sander, aloose arm and most important of all....... Some good expletives...
It took 6 hours to get the mould to the stage it is....

Another bit to do......
Since the new pod seems to be okay i need to vacuum mould a base for it so it bolts into the top part of the dash and then i can 'glue' the top to the bottom and it will be complete.....
First thing to do was to cover the base in some industrial celophane to stop the material i was going to use to take the mould sticking to the dash....
When that was done i mixed some 'dot' n 'dab' and poured it in the top and using a spatula made sure it filled the top properly....
Unfortunatly the paste got a bit to good of a hold on the lip as well as depressing the celophane into the hole above the stereo so it took me 3 hours with hoover and a large screwdriver to dig it out.
When it was cleared out i used masking tape to mould a smooth lipless depression in the top so when i pour some more d&D in the morning it should come out okay when it has set....
Here is hoping....

Christmas over, n money left but plenty of time so back on with it......
Built as second unit today incorperating some mods that i did not do on the first unit.....
This one was encased in red case and looks even better than the prototype......
Still a P4 3.6Ghz Hyperthreaded processor with 1G of Ram and linked to a 23" HD panel it is spot on.....
In place under the drivers seat.....
The unit is going to have to go on the other side of the plate under the drivers seat and will be secured with security screws so it cannot be seen but it is looking good......
The power supply needs finishing and involves some redesigning on my part which should be done by tommorow night then a quick build and it will start going in next weekend.......
The pod mount needs some more work which i will look at this week coming.......
More updates to follow.....

Progress again....
I am off to see a major vacuum forming company in the morning to get the pods properly done, hopefully in the same finish as the dashboard....
Pickies will follow when i have the proper unit....

Did not realise i have had it soaking it's bits off for nearly a year. I have been waiting for the double din dvd player and in dash 7" screen to fail before commiting myself and it has taken longer than i thought but at last it has died, more or less........
So the project is back on, the computer system has been running solidly for 5 months, with the exception of a power cut last month and it recovered well so back on with it......
The dash pods where made in 4mm ABS and looked the dogs nuts, however i don't like the small screen, but more importantly my 4ft 11 1/2 inch wife has a blind spot on the front n/s created by the pod so it is out.......
Instead i have got a 10" touchscreen (whoever said size does not matter was telling porkies) and it is the nuts.......
However the centre dash is going to have to be remodelled in order to accomodate it, so the double din slot is going as is the pop out drinks holder and possibly the clock. I have bought a lot of fibre glass matting and resin, next week i will be making the ribs that will form the shape of the console out of 1.6mm steel strip and the following weekend i will be manufacturing the console........
Pickies will be taken...........
So far the computer has:
Digital radio reciever
Digital tv reciever......
GPS reciever talking to Autoroute 2007........
Bluetooth interface........
'3' USB broadband modem.........
Broadband gateway........
160Gb hard drive with 247 movies on it..........
22" HDLVDS screen........
10" control touchscreen.......
5.1 surround sound output........
2 cameras, one for front and one for rear.......
Once the dash is done the entire system will be fitted and then i need to look at the rear roof section and see if i can fit some speakers into it.........
I have a good idea on how to do it but it would involve turning a Deli on it's roof, prefferably without damaging it.........
I have been advised on the amps and speakers to get to fit in the bus and several people recomend Fusion...... I would not mind fitting a SONY Explod Bass speaker but again i don't know how good they are so any advice would be appreciated....
Onward and upward.......

Hello david........
The whole thing is powered off a 12v 85Ahr gel cell when the Deli is not running.......
3mins after the engine has been running the power for the system is transferred to the Deli's battery, the gell cell is removed from the system and charged off the alternator through a special charging circuit......
The P4 and it's bits needs 12v and 5v and the 22" screen needs 23v in order to run.........
All power is through DC to DC converters that i have designed........

The weekend is here and the pimping begins..............
Not the pimping Westwood style i will add........
I am stripping a 1995 Delica Exceed, manual that had a blown engine..........
As this is a total strip down without damage i will sticksome pickies on the site.......
The aim of the game is to totally strip the vehicle to a shell without damaging the parts and i will put an explanation in of what goes where as i am doing it......
Once this is done and i expect to have it totally stripped by next Sunday, it will be booled out of the garage and turned over, fixed to a purpose built trolley that is ready and waiting for it, and taken back into the garage for an attempt at manufacturing a roof lining that will take some speakers......
Whilst in this position i will have a go at bending a roof light bar as well.........
This took 5 hours......
On this one you can just see the gearbox on the floor..........
It did not want to come out.......
The wiring loom coes into the engine bay from 2 places, down behind the o/s headlight and also the bulkhead behind the battery, fuel filter area. For those that are interested, with regards to the fuel filter, the pipe nearest the headlight is from the tank, the pipe nearest the bulkhead is to the fuel pump.....
More to follow........

Well it took longer than i thought but the Deli is now upside down and back in the garage.....
Just before flipping over.....
And now over before going on it's trolley
There is a more detailed flipping process in the tech forum under 'stripping a Deli to a shell'
There are no pickies of it on the trolley as it was very darkwhen it was fitted to it......
So on with the dash this week.......
