Afternoon all......
I have read about some members fitting PC's in their Deli's and i was wondering if it worked out at all......
I am just testing a new P4 PC that i have built to put in the animal and it is looking good so far.....

After a full days testing (13 hours) the computer is better than i thought it would be..
Maximum case temp reached 9deg C so that will do for me.....
The power supply is next and that will be done next weekend as i am off to grange over sands for the week.....
And the week after the 23" monitor is going in, so i can kiss goodbye to the sunroof......

Hi Ricke,
I've been wondering about the carputer thing for ages, but being a complete technophobe I'm clueless to what I need and how to do it. Any pointers, pictures etc would be great, it seems to be the way forward to me!

A media center PC in the car is on my plans, I just don't get much time in the UK to do anything more than basic maintenance. _________________ Interested in a good Super Exceed high top crystalite 7 seater with the works and a sorted fuel pump etc. doesn't need to be perfect PM me if you have any leads. |

Right i eventually got the big screen for the back butchered and wiring loom created to run off the P4...
Took A lot longer than i wanted it to but thats the joy of tinkering....
So what do we have.......
A P4 computer not much bigger than a DVD case....
An 8" touch screen monitor for the dashboard.......
A media tank, also for the dashboard with a multilayer DVD burner and 160GB h/d as well as built in card reader.....
A high speed USB Hub for connectivity to the outside world.....
A Wireless router.......
A 22" HDTV monitor for the rear of the animal so the kids can watch TV as we tootle down the motor way......
A Wireless keyboard with joystick mouse in case i need to do some pratting around........
Aim of the router is to allow me to upload music or films to the PC from the living room computer so that we can play it through the existing sound system which will have an upgrade when the system is fitted......
I would love to put pickies on the post but i can't..... I do not have web space with my pickies o n the net, just a load of pickies on my computer....
Any one want to see some then let me know....

Where it says IMG code just right click in the box and select copy, then paste onto your post
just type a heading above your pic

Okay then....Update..............
The rear tyre is coming out of it's rack and going on a proper rear mounting wheel carrier so i can put a couple of extra batteries in it's place.
The computer in the pictures was a prototype, i am constructing another one with a 60Gb 2.5" h/d in it since i have proved it works without cooking it's nuts off and a core temp of over 30deg C is a nono for a h/d on a regular basis.
The flip down assembly for the big screen has nearly been finished, hopefully this week, i need to sort out the motor control for the retractor bit....
Then the complete roof lining needs to come out so i can find some decent mounting points around the sunroof area to mount it to..... This i will look at on Wednesday night....
All good stuff.....

is it a 300 or 400 you have as I'm interested in the talk of a rear wheel mount ?
Bit of topic but I'd like a swing away wheel mount for my 400 _________________ Regards

Evening Mark.....
It's an L400......
Decided to check the tyre pressure in the spare and nearly had a hernia lifting it out then putting it back in.....
And i'm 6ft4 so the 4ft11 wife is not going to have a hope in hell...
So only solution is a swing away wheel carrier, possibly mounted on the rear tow bracket.....

Had a look at one and it looks like it fits to the corner bodywork....
The Discovery is able to handle that but i doubt if the Mitsi is.....
I am going to strip the inside away on the o/s rear corner to check how strong it is tommorow......
Wil let you know.....
