Hey all, pretty new here so sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but I couldn’t find it..
Replaced the bulbs on my 94 L400, yet nothing changed they still do not work, all other lights work, I’m assuming some kind of electrical fault? Where do I begin? Thanks in advance |

When mine failed it was the reversing wire in the rear door. at the top where the cables pass through the rubber boot between the door and the body, peel back the rubber boot and in my case it was obvious which cable had snapped..
I soldered in a new piece to take the strain out and replaced the boot and lights all good.
the rubber boot is top right hand side of the vehicle. |

Have you checked the fuse under the dash:- L400 Fuses _________________

If the buzzer sounds when reverse is selected, then fuse should be good.
Otherwise, as suggested, a broken-ed wire in the Body to Tailgate connection has failed.
Not quite correct English, hope you understand.

I guess if the reversing buzzer doesn't come on, either the fuse or switch are faulty? _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Electrics arn’t my strong point, what’s best to re connect the cable?

I joined mine at the break with a new piece of wire in the break so the joints could be pushed in to the roof/body and in to the rear door as there is not a lot.of room in the rubber boot where it broke.
Cheers. |

Two simple methods.
Cut cable sheath, leaving a short length of bare wire, then either:-
1. Slide a length of heat-shrink tubing over one side, well away from the end. Solder bare ends together and let cool. Slide heat-shrink tube over bare cable joint and apply heat to shrink cable in place for protection.
2. Use a crimp connector to join cables. Some come with an outer covering that can be heat shrunk on after it’s been crimped. Some even have a low heat solder inside that melts during the heat shrinking to improve the joint.
