I'm sure I've seen a similar issue, but cannot find when I need it.
When selecting drive, the neutral stays flashing and feels like I'm stuck in 2nd.
I've checked elc 4 fuse, as I had this on old Deli.
I think this is a slightly different issue?
Any thoughts appreciated

Mine is 1995 2.8 Diesel, don't know if gearbox signalling is different.
I had a problem, in where the gear selected lights did not align with selected gear, or would not light at all.
Going down steep hills, need to select Second gear, it would not engage, nor the second gear light come on.
Suffered this problem for a few years, eventually got annoyed, asked folks (even V8rick, didn't know) I had to sort it.
Under the dashboard, there is linkage for the gear shift, which is adjustable - Ah Ha, I've found how to adjust it.
So, messed with adjusting - Oh, didn't work - - - Got a sulk on Sad
After some on vehicle searching, I found a switch on Right side on the gearbox, easily accessible by removing Right front wheel,
and a flexible cover (not all Delica's have them) The switch can be seen. It is mounted with slots, therefore adjustable.
I had worked out direction to move the switch
The bolts are 6 mm (10 mm tool) If you have a assistant operate the gear lever you may be able to correct your problem.
Tho, I don't know if this will correct the flashing Neutral light.
Ignition has to be ON, no need for engine to be running.

I'll have a fiddle in that area, and see what happens.
After researching, I'm sure it's something like that, or it's stored a fault somewhere which I need to clear.
Apparently my year of 2002 has a few more options with a fault reader, but ill confirm that if it happens
I don't think it's a big problem, but, I just don't know what it is yet.
The gearbox oil looks brand new still.
I'll report my findings. 👍 _________________ A Little Knowledge is Dangerous and expensive! especially if your me Mending anything!! |

Haven't had chance to have a proper look today, but limped down to the garage for fuel.
I have a cheapy obd2 reader that's never worked on the Deli, always says "no connection", but I've always put that down to costing only £15, and possibly the Deli dosent support it, even though I've read that it could do being a 2002.
Anyway, I thought I'd just plug it in again to see if by magic it had decided to work.
I moved off the main forecourt to a quieter area, to have a go at plugging it in again.
Strangely, as i started up again, the fault had gone?
No flashing neutral, back to normal?
Drove around today fine, stopping and starting and all okay.
Then whilst driving about 30, i had a clunk, and flashing neutral again and stuck in first gear.
Stopped, turned off, and restarted.
All okay again.!
I'm thinking I've definitely got a sticky switch somewhere.
My special garage is gonna have a look next week anyway.
If it's metal, and moves, I can generally mend it, but funny black boxes, and free time are not my thing at present. _________________ A Little Knowledge is Dangerous and expensive! especially if your me Mending anything!! |

Got to agree on the metal and black boxes thing. That's one reason why I've got an L300, - no OBD port at all! BTW, I had the same problem with my 2001 Rover 75diesel (made by BMW) Apparently, diesels didn't have to be OBD2 compliant until at least 2004 in Europe, and being as the Deli was never Euro market, you would probably need a Japanese format scan tool. MG Rover had their own T4 diagnostic tool. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Memory recall tells me that a previous post said many were fitted with the port for future evolvement, but may not be functional.
The main thing is, I have a lot of trust in my mechanic.
If it can be plugged in, he will know.
I hate paying, but he knows what to look for in most stuff.
It will save me a week off work, plus waiting for my self diagnosed parts, that will maybe not work anyway.
I know what you mean on having a simple vehicle.! ☺
I would feel so much more relaxed without all the electrical stuff.
I'm invasaging when I am rich with time, money, and fitness, fitting a simple, reliable, economical engine to my rust free Deli.
Maybe I dreamt that bit.
I'd love to see the posts in 30 years time.
People will be fitting electric power plants to all sorts of old classics in the mods section.
Scary.
I don't think I have the brain patience to evolve to the next chapter of what the government allows as an affordable taxable vehicle.
Sorry, I'm waffling. Been a hot long day. 🍻 _________________ A Little Knowledge is Dangerous and expensive! especially if your me Mending anything!! |

Andyman - LHD L300 and L400’s, including the Cargo, were both officially imported into Germany.
Which is why some ko the workshop manuals refer to Europe specifications.
POCUK members have had some success with OBD2, mentioned on the Aussie Deli club.
You may recall that several years back I mentioned about taking mine into my local Mitsu dealer, to first be charged for a diagnostic report, then find out that they do not have the OBD2 software in the UK, due to Mitsu holding it back from grey import countries. _________________

Agreeing with Andyman, the Delica supports JOBD (Japanese) not the standard OBD so the cheap plugin readers won't work.
But if you have a Japanese sports imports specialists near you, they will most likely have JOBD compatible kit. There is a huge market in imported Japanese sports cars and the enthusiasts that like to tune them.
