Hi all, I have a V6 6G72 that squeaks on start up or under electrical load. Any pointers to fixing the issue would be welcome.

Thank you

Sounds like Alternator/fan belt/s need tightening.

MrD, thank you. I was under the impression that it may have an automatic tensioner. I will look at tightening, is it a simple job?

Generally, Timing Belts and Chains have automatic tensioning devices.

But the belt/s for Alternator, Fan, Water pump, Air Con compressor etc usually have to be  manually adjusted.

NB Alternator belts have a clamp bolt as well as a tensioning bolt. You have to loosen the clamp bolt before tightening the belt with the tensioning bolt. Otherwise you may strip tensioner threads.

I had squeaky belts for a while since buying my Deli a couple of months ago. The PS belt finally snapped the other day. I’ve bought two belts but just gone to change them and realised there’s a third.

Is there a guide somewhere on here on how to change them? It looks like removing the fan will help.
