|
|
Hi,
Well I think I have established that my alternator is shot. It's only throwing out about 11.8V from the battery when the heater, lights etc are running so out it must come. The question is how?
On my L400 the alternator is located just above the oil filter and it doesn't look like it will come out between the oil filter and the body. Is it best to remove the air filter housing and take it out that way? Also I can't actually see the bolt holding the alternator on but again it seems to be right above the oil filter with the nut at the back. Is this right? I've read a few threads about the bolt being a pain in the arse so any tips on removal would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

If your's is a diesel auto like mine, it shouldnt be too much bother. IIRC correctly, the long pivot bolt has a square head and removing the belt adjustment mechanism makes it easier to get the belts on and off.

...I found it is easier to fit the belts to the alternator and then fit them to the fan.
A spanner on the fan bolts to turn the fan pulley. _________________ Delica - La Guardia Silver '95 SWB High Roof Exceed 2 - ZOMBIE HUNTER |

Just bought our first Delica and have struggled to get that 14mm bolt off the back. So great to know we weren’t alone in the struggle |
