Just when I thought I'd done all the work for my Deli's MoT, I find my brake M/C is leaking again, 3-4 years after I serviced it with new seals. So I am buying a new one complete this time. Can anyone confirm that this is correct for my P35W spec L300 with auto box?   shortened ebay link

Because it was too long and broke the system.

Now corrected.

I've just dug the receipt for mine and this is what the order/part number comes up with:-
https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/ferodo-8225657.html

If you scroll down that page there are some equivalent part numbers.

It was left hand drive one, but just need to turn the top pipes around to point the other way.
When I got it it was £94.40 all in (tax, delivery from Germany etc).

And it has been on there since May 2015 so coming up six years service with no issues.

The part was posted from here:
Wemax Group GmbH & Co.KG
Josef-Orlopp-Straße 55
10365 Berlin
Germany

Thanks for that PP, I already ordered a Blue Print one, but the OEM code for it is 407060, and while the suitable vehicles listed were a bunch of L300 4x4s,
none of them were P25 or P35. Fortunately, I have an old worn one in my parts box, so I can check if the new one will fit before I start dismantling the dash,
-  I suspect it may be a diameter issue. I have to keep the Deli drivable, as I am doing a fair bit of car-juggling in and out of the garage,
and that's without my wife's Merc on site - it's gone to the specialist for an engine management light diagnosis, and has apparently developed a hole in the bank account!

Hi Andy, P25 and P35 are just differences in the roof, High P35 and Low P25.
As far as brake cylinders go I would take it they are all the same.

Thanks Ian. As I write, the new m/c is in position, waiting for me to go back out and finish connections etc. Just came in to warm up and have some lunch. Strangely, the servo end of the old one is as dry as bone inside the end, it is as if it was leaking from one of the connections, but they were all tight.

The input pipes on the top can leak - worth an extra cable tie to be sure

Roger, are you saying that the OEM spring clips aren't clamping tight enough on the filler tubes? The pipes were initially stuck to the rotateable plastic connectors on the top of the cylinder, and needed a bit of leverage with a trim lever after I had pulled back the clips. Looks like I may have a spare, serviceable M/C after all that!

Couldn't be 100% sure,  but did read of someone having that issue with some aftermarket one, so worth checking that's what it is. Mine was just push on, so I added cable ties to make sure when I turned the pipes to fit

Hi Andy,
Sorry late to the party here, but For What It's Worth I fitted that exact cylinder you linked to about a year ago - not from that seller but somewhere else on fleabay.
Blue print part ADC45121.
Only thing I had to do is twist the hose attachments round so they point in the correct direction for the hose connections.
Not had a single issue with it so far.
Jeroen

Hi Jeroen. Yes, it's all fitted and bled now. But I did get a few drips from a filler pipe connection when I pushed the rubber cap onto the reservoir, so I took a bit out, and also adjusted the clip, and all seems well now. Hopefully I can get it MoTed this week - finally! Also needed 2 new wiperblades. Despite cleaning adjusting and lubricating, handbrake is still borderline in my opinion. The MoT garage charged me for a couple of hours work on it last year before they passed it anyway, despite I couldn't tell any difference, - it was still iffy. But then it's an auto, so I leave it in PARK. How are others' handbrakes?

Mine won't hold on a hill where the car does fine (mazda6 estate, so not a small car) unless I pull the lever out of the floor until it feels like the cable may snap.
Still passes MOT so I park in gear and don't ask any questions ;-)

Interesting.. my handbrake has never given me much concern, although I make a habit of always parking in gear, everywhere, whatever vehicle.
I've adjusted the handbrake a few times at the handle, just to make sure it's tight.

Having said that, I've also never been able to check much about the back brakes, ever - years ago (not long after I got the van) I tried to get the drums off to check the shoes/cylinders etc. The drums never budged a millimeter, even after rather a lot of violence.  Shocked
Every MOT since I've waited for the rear brakes to come up as an issue, they never have yet. Next one's due on Friday...

If ever I manage to get the brake drums off and there is a lip, I grind it off and file it smooth, so I can get them off more easily in future, because backing off the adjuster is usually a PITA. Mine are cleaned and adjusted, cables and linkages lubed, but it still takes that last click before you think you are going to rip out the whole lever to get it to hold on a 20% incline. Jeroen -  fingers crossed we'll both be celebrating come Friday night!

I'm not sure my rear drums have ever been off in 16 years Shocked

They must have! But I can't remember ever doing it! Must check MOTs...

My handbrake never seems to be any good so I leave her in P when I park.
