|
|
Have taken off my fuel pump and had a right struggle getting it reconditioned. Found a diesel specialist in Darlington and he has looked at the pump and says it will cost around £500 to fully recon. Is this a rip off or a typical recon price. He says that the pump is in bad shape but parts for these pumps are expensive, no surprise there.
Tried to get second hand pump but they are harder to find than Rocking Horse s**t. _________________ CHEERS MAN. |

From my experience it is usually the seals that cause all the trouble and these are very cheap to replace. Most of the work is in remove/replace/dismantle/reassemble/fit and test. However if other parts are worn then yes they probably are expensive. The price sounds about right from our perspective however( for a rebuild). Just to make sure take it to another specialist to check the first guy out. You can always go back. Cheers, Dean. |

The most I've heard for a pump recon has been £300 and thats including removing it from the vehicle as well,so id say the garage your using is ripping you off matey ,if i were you id try too look for another garage a bit further afield or even phone your local mits dealer and ask them for a qoute for it to be overhauled off of the vehicle.atb

I'd be very surprised if they don't take it to a specialist, so I'd cut out the middleman- they're bound to charge more than going direct. |
