The problem is that the Delica was NOT manufacture for usage in Europe.
Even though it was accepted in UK back in 2003.
And we have a European Log Book!!

We have changed headlights, fog lights and speedo to kms.
She passed the Control technique (mot) and is insured here in France.
And have a European Certificate of Immactrication.

I exported her when we arrived here in France. (proper)
Then tried to register here, Big Problem.
Prefecture sent me to DRIRE, who gave me a long list of reports that they want, they all need to be Offically Stamped by Mitsubishi.
So I contacted MB UK and they offer the service for the reports.
I sent off the cheque for £239 (won't get cashed if not successful) but today recieved nice email saying it's not possible to acquire the reports?

So, really we are Illegal!!
Big Problem, if the Gendarme stop us.

okay, I hear you all saying "Why go through it, sell it in UK"
But we had a New Motor put in her last year at a cost of 6000euro's!
We would never get our Money Back.

And we really want to keep her.

What Next?
Court of Human Rights?

It gets BETTER!!

We recieved a letter from Insurance Co in France.

In 3weeks time, all English Plated vehicles MUST be registered!!
And Insurance Policies are cancelled if you don't!!

Word of advise, Buy a Renault/Citroen/Peugeot don't bother to try anything else!!

You guys really need to tal to "Saminfrance". I'm not sure if Sam has seen this thread yet, but he got there in the end.
I haven't had time to go through this whole htread as I'm about to pop out. But was your Deli SVAd and registered in the UK? If it was SVA then the fact it was SVA and acceptable in the UK should mean it is acceptable, subject to changing of headlamps etc, in France as well. A pal of mine in Sweden wanted a Subaru WRX - what I did was import the WRX into the UK from Japan, SVAd and regsitered it here in the UK, then exported it with all the paperwork including copy of the SVA certificate to Sweden. All he had to do was change the headlamps over, get it through the equivalant of the MOT over there and now it's registered on Swedish plates.
I know Sam got the detaila for the new plaque (VIN plate) to be made up - check with him what else needs doing. I can't remember if he needed help from Mitsubishi UK.
Cheers and good luck.
Pete Millis from Brighton area

Jackie,

Do you have a link or more info about this.  My in-laws live in France and I'm not sure if they're aware of this.

Thanks

Chris

Hi
Pete, I have been in contact with Sam and he sent me the details of how he did his. I went to the DRIRE and they gave me a long list of reports and didn't give the choice of the Titre Isole,
We got a Nice French Lady to help and speak to DRIRE and ask why and they replied "Different Dept"
Trying again on Weds with French lady, as she says "International Law is for all Depts"

Our Deli was inported when she was over 10yrs, which meant it didn't need a SVA!

Chris
Re the insurance thing, I recieved a letter this morning from GAN and
"Dear Customer, Because of French legislation, all insurances companies have Obligation to terminate insurance policy for cars who have english registration.
The onlyone solution, is that you must change your English registration by a french registration (article 8,Direction no 88/357/CF)
My company is not too much bad, she gives us 3 weeks to change registration instead to terminate the contract.
Can you study with the prefecture?
Thank you for your intervention.

The annoying thing is that we heard rumours a few months ago about this!!

Lets hope we are sucessful on Weds with Clarrise or we will have to re-think.

Our Deli is a K 1993 Jasper.
New engine last march, 5 new tyres, spare camshaft/pulleys, spare rocker cover etc, spare cylinder head!!

What's it worth?

Obviously she needs UK MOT,TAX and re-registered! as we permantly exported her, like you do LEGALLY!!

Why bother?

Our Deli lives most of here life in Italy,  and we do go back to the UK at least twice a year and the Deli is perfect, get her taxed and MOT,s whilst in the UK.

As for insurance many companies will cover you fully comp for a small additional premium...look around!!!!

also the authorities leave me alone on an UK reg car...mind you thats in Italy, the french are usually a****

Hi

We have finally got French Plates on our Shogun.

B***dy shame we couldn't do the same with the Deli.
Don't know where she went, but she did get French Plates in the End even though they were only Trade Ones!

If anyone is in France I have the number of the garage that TOOK her away, they might still have her for the parts.

She was K plated, left-hand headlights, curtains etc.

Jackie

We have right-hand headlights if anyone is interested.
also, cylinder head, camshaft and rockers.
All for L300

Hi
I don't know if this will help as we have not gone the whole nine yards with my re-reg for my Belgium van, but we telephoned

Mitsubishi France, who sent the conformity form 'next day' I have filled in the info detailed it asks for, to be returned with my

cheque. They will send me back the 'Conformity', then I should be able to go to my Prefecture with the approprate paper

work and get the ' carte grise '.  I trust you could do the same... Let me know if you need more help ....

Mitsubishi Motors France, telephone is... +33(0) 1 34 35 84 00

Address 9 Chuassee Jules Cesar,  BP 10051 Osny, 95521, Cergy Pontoise Cedex .

hello Delica forum
i'm new to this L400 forum.
I'm the next on the list regarding importing a Delica to france. So far i've spotted lights in germany, and thanks to sam's experience i think i'll go to the drire with a mitsubishi weight plate already installed.
My Deli is in london, and i'll hop on the plane next week to pick it up.
I'll let you know how it works out.
cheers

Mmmm just found this site. Tried to go through the hoops here in France about 2 years ago but gave up. Still insured and still on the roads.( My insurers send a renewal notice and I pay it ). didn't get to changing headlights etc but have recently found out that left hand drive L300's exist in Switzerland, its not EEC so no help with certificate but lights may be available.
If I get another it will probably be a 400 so maybe then I'll want to make it ''Legal''.
