Hi
We are still fighting the PaperTrail here in France!!
We have done all the things to our Deli to finally register it in France!
Headlights, foglight, Controle Technique etc.
Now we took it to the DRIRE in Limoges for the Test!! as it never conformed for France!
Now we are being asked for original manufactures reports for things like - Seatbelt anchorage, airbags if fitted, smoke emissions, noise levels, door hinges etc.
I have spoken to DVLA,VOSA,SVA and Mitsubishi Uk and none of them can help!
As our Delica is over 10yrs, a SVA was never done when it was originally imported to UK.
I now need to request the specs from Mitsubishi Japan through MB Uk at a cost of £230.
It's a logistical Nightmare!!
The annoying thing is that we know it is possible, as there are other Deli's in France.
We will not give in!!
So much for Having a EUROPEAN LOGBOOK/ CERTIFICATE OF IMMACTRICATION!!!!
Any one moving to France in the Future, my Advise would be Get a Car that conforms to France!!!
Phew, that's better!!
Thanks

Hi
I have been in comunication with Saminfrance, he didn't seem to have to go through the Loops like we are.
I seems to be the same DRIRE but in a different Dept.
Might have to practice my Human Rights!! E.U harmonized, yeh right!!
We think there is a Deli in La Rochelle, but can't seem to get any messages to him (they are stuck in the Outbox?
Its driving me MAD!! |

Hi,
I think at that rate I'd have left it registered in the UK and just driven over for an M.O.T. holiday etc...
I think it's amazing the different requirements for each country, even though the vehicle is okay in one but not in another.
Hope you get it sorted in the end,

That's fine.
But...
Your UK insurance goes down to 3rd party only after being out of the county for 3months and DVLA want vehicles that are out of the UK for more than 12months has to be exported!
We will not be beat by the beaurocacy!!!

Hi
As the Deli is sold in Germany as a Space Gear, might the paperwork from a German example translated into French be sufficient ? HTH

Hi,
I've also got a Delica Space Gear Exceed I would like to register in France. I've also 'literally' just email Sam-in-France, before reading this thread. Hope he's not being bombarded by emails since his 2004 thread!
I'd be greatful 'jackiewoodly' if you could post any further information, assuming you've been successfull.
Many thanks

I am still at the head light stage ...... but having done A lot of work on our new car (1992 2.5 exceed Delica - 2 little round head lights) changed the head , water pump , timing belt , fuel pump and now found a tow bar I am not going to give up either. We are near La Souterraine which must be somewhere near you. Any advice you can give would be gratefully received.
Thanks

Hi Chris
We too are not going to give up!
Some people would say "Why Bother" but....
We love our Deli and here in France it's the perfect vehicle!
We are still waiting for Mits Uk to here back from Japan been 8weeks now.
Where did you get your headlights from?
Don't forget to change the rear foglight to the otherside.
I will look on the Map to see where you are.

I haven't as yet got any headlights for the Deli and was hoping you could suggest a supplier. Mitsubishi Gueret have drawn a blank and I've just asked "Japanese 4x4 Spares" in the UK and await their response. I have ordered a tow bar from them which is essential for me here and again Mitsu Gueret drew a blank. So if you are beyond this stage pls do tell. Also re the back fog light ????!! I've changed 3 other UK vehicles and this was never a requirement whats that all about? Also (sorry to go on) The Drier thing isn't that for commercial vehicles?
Anyhow where are you roughly ....... we haven't seen any other Delis round here and I reckon the French think its the biz .... for the chase and the like its ideal. We went off to the Auverne last winter and it did great in the snow at 1200m with 3" of compacted snow on the ground.

Hi
We are 30mins down from Limoges, near Chalus.
Changing the foglight was to do with the control technique, as they are on the wrong side.
The DRIRE is used when the vehicle doesn't comply to normal proceedure at the prefecture.
As for headlights, we got ours from Germany, I willl dig out the invoice for them, we had to do a bit of alteration, but they passed the CT.
Maybe we could meet up sometime?
Keep in touch.

Jackie
A lead on the headlight would be fantastic.
I think we have gotten away with the fog light for the CT as the only thing we got caught on was the head lights.
This site is an amazing data base ...... I'm kicking myself for not finding it earlier as the price of parts I've been buying in France is outrageous. One link I followed quoted £30 for a water pump I'd paid 165€ for!!! + I just paid 189€ for 4 glow plugs which are buttons at the same place ... oh well a fool and his money ......
By all means if you are ever up this way or if we go south I'll give you a shout. I pressume there isn't yet a Limoges chapter of the MDOCUK ..... maybe we could start one. We have a b and b and I reckon there would be lots of scope for Deli owners to go mad in the country here .... must see about advertising our area to the members.

But just to get everyone wondering ....... the answer to your question must be yes pls!!!

Hi
We are down 225 for the foundations.
But we have dug down 4.5mtrs as it is a sloping site!!
They are full of water!!
We also have a natural water source in the cave!!
Good for the supply of water for the house!!
And the dog Max loves swimming in the well!!
He will be knackered when it's capped!! LOL.

Oh dear
Sorry to hear that .... this is a set back not just to us ... I need to see if I can register ours in the Creuse via the Drier at Gueret. Have done nothing since the CT except wonder if you had heard anything.
Bon Courage
