Hi, I have owned my L400 Delica for nearly a year now & it recently developed a sticking break caliper.  Living in the Scottish Borders, we didn't havea  clue where to take it for a decent repair.  However, we found that there was a Mitusbishi Main dealer in Tweedbank, so we booked the car in.  A day before it went in it, it developed a power steering fluid leak. When
we took it in for repair, the dealer was very amiable, even to the point of being happy for us to order our own parts from Milners.  Anyway, to cut a long story short, they fixed the caliper no problem but  they bodged the steering rack repair. I wasn't even able to get it home before I lost all power steering fluid again!  I phoned them when Ii got home and they told me to bring it back the following week.  When they looked at it again, they decided that it was a steering rack seal that had perished and I needed a new steering rack (£2,500 approx).  They were unable and unwilling to source this new or used and it was apparent that they wanted nothing more to do with my Delica (being a foreign import). I eventually tracked down a company in the South East who were able to supply me with a good second hand steering rack for £110.00, which we took to a guy in Kelso who specialises in mending Japanese imports. He promptly fitted this in half a day and my Delica is now as good as new!  I just thought I would tell you this story because I stupidly assumed that in going to a main dealer I would be treated with respect.  How wrong I was; it turned out that a small friendly garage tucked away in Kelso provided a service second to none (that the main dealer was unable to provide).

Hi there

The lcoal guy we use at Kelso is:
Gavin Dagg
G D Diesel 4x4 Engineering
Burnshouse
Pinnaclehill Industrial Estate
Kelos
TD5 8DW
Tel: 01573 224 222
Fax: 01573 223 900
Mobile: 07770 555 242
Email: gavindiesel4x4@btconnect.com
Website: www.4x4diesel.co.uk

My dealings with him have been very good, professional and reasonably priced. He seems to know his stuff and I wouldn't hesistate to recommend him.  He just specialises in Jap Imports which is something hard to come by here in the Borders.  He is willing to fit parts supplied by the customer (from Millers or similar).  We supplied our reconditioned steering rack and he happily fitted it very well.  The local Miutsu garage didn't want to know and quoted us £2.5K, then said they couldn't do the jop anyway!
Cheers
Mark

Many thanks  for that Mark.
I will keep a note of his contact details & as I am also looking for a good Delica, I will drop him an email to see what he has.

Cheers

Scottie
