Anybody know how to remove power steering rack .Have dismantled rack
but unable to remove to many obsatacles in the way, do you have to remove anything else Question

Its an L400 found out how to do it ,On the nearside underneath vehicle there is an arm connected to subframe and small transmission box you have to remove all the bolts either end the arm then the arm can swing down allowing enough room to remove rack . The only problem was fitted replacement rack but still no power steering .Have changed pump ,checked that the gear driving pump is working , still no power steering .Anybody got any idea's Question

i would suggest that you send your pump away to be pressure tested, it may be turning but not producing pressure. there isn't much to a PAS system really, pump, rack and pipes.
have you bled the system by turning lock to lock(sorry if that sound patronising Embarassed )

Have it up on stands moved steering back and forth till the cows came home no improvement , I am not hearing anything either i remeber when turning full lock before you would here pump straining i am not hearing anything. Please do state obvious in case its something really stupid. Exclamation

yep, deffo get your pump checked mate, look in yellow pages to find a specialist, sounds like a lack of pressure. good luck, let us know how you get on.

Could not find power steering specialist close to me so decided to get another pump. Put it on, lifted car on to stands turned from side to side to bleed system could feel it pressurising straight away. Removed off jack road tested AOK

Out of interest mate how much did you pay for your rack and where did you source it from...Second hand or brand new mitsu?

The rack was second hand but came with 90 day garantee .it came from the site below you type in the part you want and you get loads of response from people who have the part . below is the link
