My front tyres will need replacing soon and it got me thinking about upping the tyre size.  I am current running 225/75R15 and I always thought they look a bit small.

I have read on here that 30/9.5 R15 is the largest that will fit without deploying the lump hammer to modify the seams.

The other two tyres are in decent shape.

So, is it a crazy idea to move the smaller tyre to the front and put the new larger tyre on the rear?

Should be okay as long as there is no more than about 5% difference in diameter. If there is, ABS may think front wheels are spinning and apply brakes! Likewise, if running in 4H, the central viscous diff should be fine, but may be better to run in 2H. My L300 has larger tyres on the back, so with no centre diff, it has to be 2H on tarmac. It will very quickly start moaning with wind-up if I don't remember! Just make sure tyres are same size across each axle.
