Anyone replaced their front speakers?
Just wondering what make the originals were. Went to replace mine thinking they'd be factory crap and knackered after 33 years. My 14 year old car had mouldy speakers with blown cone mounts.

However they look to be okay and a decent Alpine model (well as good as you get for 4" speakers)

So cleaned them up, replaced the foam surrounds and added in a resonant surface by way of some plywood surrounds glued to the dash innards around the speakers. Rudimentary, but adds a bit to the tone, rather than just bouncing off metal and plastic.

Anyway - did they fit Alpines in the factory in 1988?

That looks chunky. My '92 L300 certainly didn't have anything as nice as that. Mine were just basic single cone efforts. Like this...

I have a full set of Alpines installed now though Smile

Thank you - that looks more like what to was expecting to find!

Good news then - The previous owner must have upgraded at some point, so I'll leave them be.
