Finally finished fitting my refurbished rack then ...
Small drip of fluid where the return line elbow fits into the flexible hose
Took the elbow and hose off and cleaned all the rust off.
Cut half inch off the flexible hose so the elbow fitted into rust free flexible and secured all with a jubilee clip.
Still got a drip
Anyone breaking an L400 that could sell me the elbow and flexible?
(Mitsubishi want about £60 for new plus a six week lead time )

Would your local Pirtek not be able to make up/supply suitable part(s)? They sorted me out when my vacuum pump oil supply pipe sprang a leak 3 days before the Stafford meet. Lewis's suggestion IIRC. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Well done skodarapid
Yes, that post does refer to the pipe I've got the problem with and the eBay link show exactly what I need.
Many, many thanks. _________________ 1996 PE8W, 1994 PF8W*2, Gilera Fuoco, and a Smart Electric Drive. |

Skodarapid, how did you fit the replacement?
The one I received has a female connection whereas the MR112412 has a male connection into the actuator. _________________ 1996 PE8W, 1994 PF8W*2, Gilera Fuoco, and a Smart Electric Drive. |

You're right, sincere apologies for missing a vital part of the problem, I know how annoying it is lacking a part during a weekend working on a Delica.
I had to look at old photos of what I did and there is clearly an adaptor before the 120degree elbow.
You will have to check what the old metric thread in the actuator is, but I used something like a M16x1.5 to AN-6 male adaptor such as:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271289612017?hash=item3f2a1ef6f1:g:y8oAAOxyM89Sbxuw
Definitely check the thread size you need first, do you have the old pipe to measure? |

Ah
No worries, its been very much a stop/start job over the last few weeks with rack removal/sending away/awaiting return/refitting.
I've become a "dab hand" at removing the elbow and flexible and can whip them off in 15 minutes
My small hand coming in from behind the half shaft and over the top with the 17mm spanner.
I'll check out the threads tomorrow.
How did you seal the adapter? _________________ 1996 PE8W, 1994 PF8W*2, Gilera Fuoco, and a Smart Electric Drive. |

I don't remember applying any sealant. Give it a pinch up with the spanner and it's good. |

Finally finished the job this weekend gone
Numerous delays including the "regular" stuff mowing lawns etc.
Had measured the rack arms and got it perfectly centred and fitted the lower steering column to the rack with the steering wheel perfectly centred but ...
45 degrees off to the left
Pulled the steering wheel off and got it centred to within a degree or so to the left.
At the start of the job I'd decided it was easier to unwind the track rods from the ball joints rather than split them. (I was going to fit new track rods anyway)
I measured the length of thread into each ball joint and had a 2.5mm difference between left and right. When I reassembled I used the mean of the measurements for winding the track rods into the ball joints.
I've now gone back to the original difference adding 1.25mm to left and shortening the right by 1.25mm. This should "lose" the couple degrees offset. (I'll find out this morning) _________________ 1996 PE8W, 1994 PF8W*2, Gilera Fuoco, and a Smart Electric Drive. |
