L400 2.8 1995.

I have read the capacity spec sheet from mark, but there is no way I’m getting 2.5 litres of oil in as when I get to 1.5 litres it pours out of the fill plug.

I drained about 1.3 litres out then jacked the front up so the oil would drain to the rear, so I’m sure it’s empty.

Is 2.5 litres correct ?

They tell you on Delica aus site but I can’t log in...

TIA

To answer my own questions.

You can’t drain all the oil from the transfer case with the truck level, you need to jack the drivers side front up so the tyre is a good 8 inches off the floor.

This tilts the case and it’s contents towards the drain plug and then I was able drain a total of 2.4 litres out.

To refill the case, obviously replace the drain plug and undo the filler plug, this time you need to jack the rear of the truck up just enough to see daylight under the tyres, this helps you to replace the correct 2.4 litres of oil in to case without it trying to spill out of the filler hole.( I said 2.4 litres but the data sheet says 2.5 but you will never drain it dry.)

The filler hole is the oil level indicator, when the oil dribbles out the level is correct, but if you do this with the truck level the oil begins to dribble out at about 2 litres which is no good.
