Thought I'd just share a couple of photos here of how to fit a remote fob locking unit on an L300 as I had to replace the old one which gave up.
Mine has manual wind windows so there is space to put the controller unit in the door itself down near the hinge secured with cable ties.
The actuator can be screwed through existing holes in the door with some washers to pack out.
The control rod just screw-clamps onto the existing button lock rod.
You only need then run a permanent 12v from the fusebox to the control unit and earth to a handy bolt on the door.
The new remote controller locks and unlocks the drivers door which in turn triggers the existing central locking for the other doors. Really easy.

(I probably posted before when I originally fitted it, but no harm in an update) _________________ The PINK PIG!

Awesome! Nice work!
I wondered about doing something like this myself.
But then, I think it may be somewhat far down the list of jobs - including re-sorting the roof, patching more holes in the wheel arches, sorting the CV joints, did I mention patching holes, and fitting an auxillary battery, it may be a while... _________________ 1992 L300 Exceed "Selma" |

I am finding black rubber gutter sealant very useful for sealing my supposedly seam welded patches. Probably a good thing I am not a boiler maker. Once the mastic is dry, a quick coat of Hammerite black chip guard (as favoured by Ed China) makes it look like a proper job. Did I mention hours of angle grinding the frogspawn welds? Also need a proper leisure battery, as I've pretty much killed the spare car battery I used for that purpose. Then there's the steering column UJ's... _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Hi Roger.
I am currently struggling with very project. I bought a Toad unit online (UK made) but am having trouble with the wiring diagrams.
I believe we have a system which rests at ground. other than that the keyless entry system seems very weak, although it locks and unlocks.
I haven't added the extra solenoid in the door as I don't need it for my application, but I have tried to wire in using two relays.
Any idea which system I should be using?
Incidentally the upgrade to electric windows is one worth doing. A real luxury in the summer! |

My original stick-it-in-the-lock key is still working fine, although it occasionally falls out of the ignition/lock! _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |
