Hi, I'm from Chile, South America and I used to have a L400 Delica, I had to sell it to finance a trip. Here Delicas are very uncommon and have lots of restrictions for being a used imported vehicle, but you can find very easily L300 delivery vans, and a lot newer and cheaper than Delicas. They are longer than Delicas, but other than that they look the same from the outside. I was wondering if it's possible to put the transfer case and axles of the Delica in the regular L300 van? Using the 2.5 diesel stock engine? If it is possible I could make a, let's say, 2010 long wheel base Delica Frankenstein, with LHD steering wheel (as we drive here).

Anybody have an experience or thoughts about this?

Thanks!

The L300 Delica stands higher than the 2WD van. It has double wishbone suspension, and double chassis rails; does your van have this set-up? You ideally need to see a Delica to see what mods you will need for gear/transfer box mountings etc. To raise the rear end, the Delica's rear axle is fitted under the springs, I think the van's is fitted on top, there may be other differences too. However, nothing is impossible, where there is a will (and a good deal of skill and persistence, there is a way. Good luck!

Plus as you say the van is longer than the Delica so alonger rear propshaft would be needed.
