Its odd, I think. Again on an incline, it stopped moving forward despite being in gear, very much like clutch slippage, but a grinding noise, horrible.
Nothing of note underneath, no smoke or smell. then, despite that, it worked brifely on flat then went again, more grinding
Now waiting for a tow |

sounds like could maybe be the clutch plate, broken springs rattling around inside. If it were diff then put it in 4WD and it'll move, or jack it up in gear and turn the rear wheel, if it won't turn or the prop turns then it's not the diff. _________________ 2nd gear low and go go go!

It's already in 4WD, due to the hills n'stuff. So I guess this means its not the diff then? <Crosses fingers tight>. Prepared for it to be the clutch. I just started it today put it in gear and as soon as clutch would bite it grinds Doesn't move. |

4WD or Super Select 4WD?
Don't sound like thrust bearing or you'd not engage gear, sounds like the clutch plate has failed, maybe bits of spring rattling around and now the plate has failed, I'd suggest not to try it anymore in case it causes more damage
As far as I'm aware it's the same clutch as a Shogun/Pajero, but not all garages will work on a Delica _________________ 2nd gear low and go go go!

Doubt its be both diffs, could be transfer box, but sounds more like the clutch to me, not that I've heard it _________________ 2nd gear low and go go go!

It seems that the flywheel was the problem, but the clutch was down to rivets anyway.
Can a shogun flywheel work on a Deli okay even tho mitsu showing as two different part nunbers? |

Anyone?
Flywheels? Interchangeable with a shogun? I have spoken with mitzy bits, who's never come across a manual which isn't encouraging, and they are an ever rarer breed than Delica's, and apparently there are only 238 of them on the road in the UK now!!! |

If I was in your shoes I would buy a used fly wheel for £40 - £60 and a new clutch kit for £190.
Then go to a garage you trust and have it fitted for a fair price of approx £80 to £100.
Still expensive at £350 all in, but if you went to a main dealer you would be looking at 3 times that. _________________ Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.... |
