Hi there. I am trying to work out why the engine light is on. My specialist said it was the map sensor. He’s changed that but it’s still on. He’s now on holiday for four
weeks and I’m trying to work out if it’s safe to drive and why the light is on.
I don’t have a fault code reader and it sounds like there isn’t one freely available for my year. Can I short pin one on the OBD to make the dash lights flash? Does this work on my model?
Anyone got any other ideas?
Thanks in advance! |

Both S1 and S2 models are the same for the diagnostics, apart from the Electrical fuel injector pump.

Thanks Lewis. That worked.
So, I’ve got these faults:
12. Boost pressure sensor.
41. Throttle solenoid valve. (In the Inlet air path).
43. Timing Control Fuel Pump system
49. Over Boost. Boost pressure over 155 kPa / 1158 mmHg
I’ve just had a new boost sensor put on already.
To fix this, is it just a case of changing out parts?
I presume 12, 41 and 49 are related?
I’ve read 43 could be fuel filter needs a change?
Anyone got any suggestions? |

I take you have the Electronic fuel pump fitted.
Those are virtually impossible to correct without being connected to the OEM diagnostics, which UK dealers don't have the software for.
Apparently though you can retro-fit the Series 1 mechanical pump and control unit, which makes things far easier.
Our sister club POCUK have been doing it for a while. _________________
