|
|
My L400 went to the garage today and has a suspected leaking fuel pump. The garage in question can't give me a timescale on the removal and refitting of said item, so does anyone know how long it would normally take to remove the old one and stick a replacement in.
Cheers. |

About two hours, including replacing the front end seal. _________________

Total? Or just taking it out? As the garage in question were 'estimating' around 5 hrs. |

At five hours they must be taking it several miles away to another garage to have it done. _________________

I s'pose it depends on how familiar they are with this motor (and it sounds like they aren't). Mark Broad or V8 Rick (RIP) might take 2 hours in and out, anyone unfamiliar is to some extent feeling their way, and will add contingency time 'just in case'. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Took me 3 nights to get mine off (2-3 hours a night)
Then it was re-furbished at Dieselcraft in Widnes, they had it for a week, then it took me 2 nights to put is back on.
Not a nice job if you have big hands, especially the bolt that is around the back holding the pump via a bracket to the engine.
I'm not a mechanic though. _________________ Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.... |

Book time (Mitsubushi) to remove and refit an injector pump from a 2.8 mk2 pajero is 2.8 hours, add on some to change the front seal so 3.5 hours is a fair time for pump seal replacement..... if your fitting a replacement pump a few bits may need to swapped over so go for a total of 4 hours and that should cover it.
Sadly garages tend to charge for how long it takes them not how long it "should" take them...
Incidentally I find Delicas a tad quicker to do than Pajeros _________________
