Well just when I thought everything was going well with the beast I now have a diesel leak. The van is running fine but there's a diesel leak coming from around the bottom of the fuel pump. Is there any known culprits that I can check first. I hope it's not the seals and hoping it's just a loose bolt or something any help would be great.

Mark 3 (Broad) is probably the best person to advise on this, Ciaran. I hope it's an easy fix. At least it isn't running into your sump, which can happen with front seal leak on L400.

Mine is doing the same.

Temporary fix is to add brake fluid to the diesel to swell the seal.

Cheers for the reply guys so it must be a seal then looks like it will be pretty hard to get at probably have to take the whole fuel pump off.... what do you mean by the link is broken nik? Might add some brake fluid to the diesel see if it helps any. Is your van having any running issues with the leak pink pig. Mine is running fine just a diesel drip every 10 seconds or so but have to sort it mot coming up 😬😬

The Google image link will work for you, but it asks other people to login to a Google account.  Sad

you might want to nip over to the USA site and read this cautionary tale of diesel leaks and broken rocker shafts...  Shocked

Timing cylinder cover O rings/seals are a common leak point, i do quite a few of them...

There are two timing cylinder covers, the flat one engine side thats leaking (in the pic above) and a dome shape cover with springs and shims underneath it the opposite side below the cold start device.... there both common leak points and will need new O rings, part number 9461610421, incidentally this is also the same O ring for the cold start device.

The engine side cover needs the injector pump to be removed to gain access, the one the other side is accessible BUT as it has springs and fine shims under it i prefer to remove the pump and change it on the floor so i don't loose anything hiding beneath it  :D  and while the pump is out you get to fit a new front seal too  Laughing

You can see the offending cover/seal in this pic at the bottom of the pump with 2x 10mm headed bolts holding it in place...

If it's an L300 when you pull the pump do it with engine at TDC and make sure you mark the position of the fixing flange too, before removing it.

So apart from the gear on the front (L300 has belt sprocket), the pump and O rings are the same, Mark?
