I have mooted this meet on Delica FB, and had positive replies from a couple of  our regulars, so if anyone fancies joining us. Hoping the rain stops soon!   I am therefore suggesting the weekend of 13 & 14th April, as it falls in everyone's holiday period, but avoids the peak Easter weekend following. For families?!, it means you can extend your holiday either side of these dates if desired. My proposed site is Hulme End camp site, adjacent to the Manifold Inn, near Buxton. This is a very basic site, and the owner has told me it will only be open at Easter if it is dry enough, so pray for a good dry spell before then. Like Coniston, this site is turn up and pay. Nearby, as a plan B, is the nearby Bank House Farm Camp site, bookable, much better facilities, and more expensive. I have found some lanes nearby, but those who know the Peak District, may wish to take a lead here. All suggestions welcome - the aim is to have a good social meet with some laning, preferably with routes of ranging difficulty.

I would love to come, but I'm afraid work and other commitments are going to get in the way again... Sad

General rule is that whoever suggests it organises it....  Well done Andy.   :D

Easy enough to suggest a meet and organise it.

It's getting people to turn up even if they say they will.

As per JAE the other year organised a pitch for 8-10 vans from the number who said they would come.

Just me and Andyman in the end!!!!

Expensive weekend but still enjoyable!!

BUT will not do it again.

Will turn up for meets and will suggest sites to stay on, just not lay out any cash!!.

As always, thanks for your support, Ian. The reasons I have chosen this venue is that it offers good options, namely;
1) You can just turn up and pay a low price for basic facilities on the Hulme End site,
2) Or you can book yourself into the adjacent Bank House Farm site  with much better facilities at greater cost.
3)Both sites are a very short stagger from the Manifold Inn, where you could stay in relative luxury if desired.
4) In the heart of the beautiful Peak District, very central and accessible to all, with lots to see and lanes and tracks to drive.
5) Plus lots of other amenities to enjoy.

I had half a hope of being able to be there, but I will be in the Netherlands for my niece's 2nd birthday... given that I missed her 1st,
I decided a Delica meet is perhaps not a good enough excuse to not show my face.
Have fun, all. Smile

I spoke to the Hulme End Campsite owner today. She confirmed that the site will be open this weekend, as it has been nice and dry, and the forecast is more of the same, if chilly when cloudy. I'm still intending to go, unless there's no interest.  I'm taking the fire basket, logs and a big coat, as well as my diesel  hot air heater. and perhaps a wee bottle of something to warm my insides! Plus the tent/awning, led light string and gas heater. And if it's still too cold, there's always the pub at the end of the camp site!

Definitely! Weather forecast has improved, frosty mornings due to clear skies. Sleeping bag and warm clothes packed! Wink
