|
|
Greetings from USA Does anyone know what the Body mounting threads are for the Rear Bumper bar? Assuming the Lower larger vertical threads are M10 x 1.5 and the horizontal ones M8x1.25 does that sound right?
My son and I designed a rear hitch and sold one locally and was looking at offering these FS and wanted to include the Hardware (forgot to document the threads on HW) , Just don't want to supply the wrong pitch threads on the bolts.
Thanks Ken. |

Will your tow bar not fit with the original bolts, or are you intending to supply longer, new ones? You should be able to compare them with samples at an engineer's suppliers. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Thanks for The reply and sorry about the typos in that post. Most Forums have an edit function after the post but I couldn't find one...
We are using 2.5 inch square tubing for the main frame and the lower bolts go all the way through it and some wedges that accommodate the angle that the lower portion of the frame. The Horizontal portion of our hitch is 3/8 in stock and the stock bolts would have minimal thread engagement. We are still a little concerned on using these mounting points and calling this a Class 1 hitch for bike or luggage racks or a small trailer, as the stock mounting nuts seem to be the weak point. We had some thoughts of recommending to drill all the way through and put a nut plate on back side but don't have a van to evaluate that option.

I believe HD tow bars use the existing nudge bar mounting points, but also forward extensions which fix to the chassis frame either side of the spare wheel. Sorry, no details on this though. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |
