I have a low roof Delica with the twin sunroofs. Both have issues with the mechanism slipping and therefore the sunroof not shutting. I've had the whole mechanism off, tightened up the screws etc and managed to get it to work for a short time. However, last week it started doing it again even with all screws tightened up. I can't seem to stop the small cog on the underside of the mechanism from slipping between the two threaded worms (for want of a better expression!). The sunroof moved back okay, then shuts okay until it gets to the final downward movement and then the cog just loses grip and makes the awful clattering noise. The threaded worms have a material within the threads and the cog is just grinding this out every time.

I've moved the worm round and this worked for a time but only short term until it did it again. Maybe the cog is worn but doubt I'll get hold of one without having to buy a whole new mechanism.

Has anyone had a similar problem and if so is it solvable?

Thanks for this info. I have a feeling the cog is just worn both sides. I have already turned it round and it made no difference.  I do wonder if the sunroof is slightly misaligned because it moves back okay and returns okay, it is just when you try to close it there seems to be too much resistance and then you get the slipping effect. The strange thing is that the rear one is doing exactly the same.

I have another Delica exactly the same year also with two sunroofs and the ones in this work perfectly. It's very odd. Anyway, I'll have a go again at turning the worms around and making sure it's aligned.
