|
|
I'm moving to France in the next six weeks to live.
I've got an L400 Active Field 3.0 Petrol, it is in fact my third Delica the other two were 2.8 turbo diesel's.
Very happy with it, as it makes light work of carrying all our clobber + a Greyhound and two Lurchers.
I need a good tow vehicle as I'll have a mini digger to cart about.
Many of you will not know but importing any vehicle into France is a bit of a nightmare, let unknown one that's already been imported into the UK.
So my question is has anyone done it?
If so what was the process like ?
What were real difficulties.....?
If it's going to be hard work I'll just have to sell it, but that means coming back, which will be a bit of a palaver.
Much appreciate anyone who can shed some real light on whether this is possible. |

It has been done, though it can be a nightmare.
See this post from one person who has done it:- http://www.MDOCUK.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=123753

Thanks for the info Lewis
It's just as I expected.
Getting CE approved & stamped left hand drive headlights is going to be a real problem since they weren't brought into the EU, although it does have E13 stamped in the glass (anyone know what that means?)
Might take it out there for the first six months and then bring it back to sell or if anyones interested before I go sell it and buy a landy disco or something already left hand drive here and take it out.
Thanks anyway
If anyone else would like to comment please feel free to do so |

Are the lights a different shape/fitting to the ones on the clone Hyundai vans I've commonly seen in Greece? I also saw left-handed Mitsubishi vans in Prague. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

They sort of look the same shape but they are different
Mine have an E number in the glass which means they are for Europe
Mine are marked E13 which funnily = Luxembourg
But come to think of it the mrs and I were out in Madeira last October 'remember that a time when you could travel unhindered', there were lots of Delica's air side and quite a few taxi's.
I did find this website 'smith-one' on the internet though, so I'm going to drop them a line. |

The company I emailed have just told me it's called the Mitsubishi i400 in europe and although they have converted them they say I can buy them cheaply second hand within europe.

Bon voyage! Will you have to quarantine when you get there? _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Possibly
But it won't make much difference to us we'll have everything we need for the first fortnight with us....
Just hope the threat of complete lockdown/circuit breaker doesn't happen, as our house is rented out from the first of November, which'll make us homeless with three dogs and a cat. |
