I hope I have posted in the correct category I did a search but nothing came up,however I have a leak which drips only when the system is pressurised which obviously is when the engine is running. It seems to be coming from behind the last pulley which is adjacent to the block.Has anybody had any dealings with this problem and is it a major job to cure it ?
Hoping I am in the right division for this subject..

Yes I've done two of these, front crank oil seal and flinger.
Easy enough, i woud change the front pulley while i was at it. _________________ Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.... |

What fluid is it leaking? you say "only when the system is pressurised" - do you mean coolant? _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

I'm probably way off, but not sure on your pulley description so here goes.
Water pump has a leak hole which drips when pump is knackered
Another maybe, aircon?
Looking at front of vehicle. On the right under where dashboard is. Roughly. It's meant to do this if so.
I'll go for waterpump though. _________________ A Little Knowledge is Dangerous and expensive! especially if your me Mending anything!! |

I Agree with Green Grouch.
The pump has a hole both above and below, which should show stains if the pump has gone. This photo shows the top one:-
And this is the bottom one:-

"No antifreeze in it yet" you need to use antifreeze all year round as its also a corrosion inhibitor and corrosion is the biggest killer of cylinder heads (cracking) in the uk!
I have water pumps and the correct coolant in stock and I'm mobile, ill pm you my details and will be happy to give you a quote to come and repair if need be :D _________________

Thanks to everybody who replied especially to Lewis (What a Bloke he should be on Mastermind with his chosen subject the L400 Delica.) for his pictures of the water pump.
To Mark Three I have replied to your invitation I did have anti freeze in the system but constantly topping it up has completely diluted it.. |
