Hi All,

I need to fix the middle bearing on the sliding door as mine suddenly gave up. I've read a couple of DIY fixes to replace the bearing but I have a couple of questions.

Does the door support itself with just the upper and lower mounts in place?
Do I need to get the interior trim off the door panel to remove the mechanism?
How do I remove the slide cover on the outside of the Delica?

Regards

Rich

If you mean will it fall out when the centre sliding part is removed the answer is no.

If you look at the top sliding section you will notice a cut out part way along. the runner has to be opposite that for the door to be removed.

Removing the cover from the central slider is simple. There is one bolt at the front where the curved runner is mounted to the door frame.

Then there is just one more bolt, at the back end, which is unbolted from inside. The easiest way to get to it is by unbolting the rear light cluster, which is held in by two bolts.

okay, progress so far-
Now it's stopped raining I started to dismantle the slide. Cover removed by accessing the rear bolt thought the storage compartment in the boot area. There's a cutout in the plastic to put a socket through.
Door card has aged and about half the pop fittings pulled out of the fibreboard rather than the metal, so I'll see what it looks like after refitting. might need some mods.
Bracket unbolted easily from the door and when removed was exactly as expected. Bearing had broken up completely.

Looking at the post in the DIY section, I drilled out the stud with a decent drill bit and cordless drill, then today I hope to source a bearing to go with the assortment of M8 bolt/washer/nut to replace the stud.

Hoping for a dry weekend,

Rich

All fixed Smile

Had a friend help hold the door in place to remount the bracket, but the original DIY post states an M8 x 40mm bolt. This was way too long for my S2 door. I used a 30mm bolt and still had to cut it down almost 10mm to make sure it didn't hit the slide cover when replaced.

Anyway, now my door is working again and I can stop worrying about the door falling off.
