Hi to you all,
After fixing my indicator problem via this site I have recently been having a number of problems with the beasts engine.
1. It is losing water from the radiator header tank. I keep having to top it up. It is fine if topped up but I can not seem to find an obvious leak.
2. I can move the timing chain a couple of millimeters. Does this need to be replaced?
3. The fan has a lot of play in it, I can move it around quite abit and it wobbles as I run the engine. Is it a case of replacing the belt or something more drastic? Is the can connected directly to the crank of engine or an independent unit?
The Delica is an 2.8 turbo diesel

1) You really need to be sure it's the rad tank, and not the "Header/Expansion" tank, try adding some sort of dye to the coolant.
If it has a plastic header tank, the plastic gives way from the core, best to replace with an all metal one. I did.
2) Best to be safe, if the chain malfunctions = Really bad NASTIES
3) The fan is belt driven.
Check carefully, see if it is the viscous coupling that is loose, if so, it needs to be changed, or go for electric fan.

Mr D. Thanks for the advice. I will look in to a dye or colour to hunt down where the water is leaking from. Is there anyone you can recommended for the timing chain - probably the fan bit as well- either garage or person. I live near Chingford Mount, London
again thanks for the help

Mark 3 for the timing chain. He's a club member and a mobile mechanic, specialising in the timing chain and pump seals.

Thanks Lewis for the heads up. Mark had done the pump seal a number of years ago and then a mate who lived opposite me. That used too draw abit of attention, two Delicas parked in the same road next to each other. Will contact Mark as soon as.
Thanks again
