Morning all.

So about a week or so the A/t light flashed on for a few seconds. having a little knowledge i assumed this was transmission liquid over heating so got garage to change filter and liquid (got liquid and filter from mitzibitz myself and garage did work. WOW what a difference. did about 50 miles in it and its doing gear changes so much smoother!
how ever on a short run (from cold engine) light flashed on again. however noted that accelarating hard the light went off straight away ..odd eh? !

anyway gonna run it up to warm and check if there is enough liquid with dip stick this morning. however in the next week or so it will need a lot of little runs as helping someone move house. what on earth could be the problem?
I'm taking it back to garage on Monday to see what they think... you guys got any advice?
I'm in margate and am going to do some googling of better/different garages.....electronics or dodgy tps or some other fault ... is it safe to drive it EEEEKKK!!!!

any help/ thoughts ....etc some much appreciated.

Reguards
phil

p.s i love the thing and really want to keep it going for ever!!

There is no servicable filter for the transmission fluid.

The only transmission filter is in the gearbox sump and that would require a fair bit of time, and costs, to remove the sump to do it. Plus it is a gauze filter that only needs cleaning and putting back.

Do you have a code number for the fluid and filter, from MitzyBits ?

You have me a bit confused here. What I meant is that the filter would only need cleaning and putting back, not replacing with a new one.

You said you had got a filter with your transmission fluid, yet I am unaware of a transmission sump filter being soldby MitzyBitz. If you got a filter what did the garage do with it ?

If they had taken your gearbox sump off, to replace the filter, then you would have got a large bill for labour, as there is over an hours work to do it, as it has to be done whilst it is up on a ramp, or a post lift; plus they would have charged you for a tube of silicone gasket, for refitting the sump.

NB: You can check if they have removed the sump by getting under and looking at the seal where it bolts on, to see if it is fresh or old.

Do you still have your Invoice/ Receipt from MitzyBitz, giving you the part number for the fluid and filter ?

Why is there so much confusion on this topic ?

The Delica L400 2.8 auto does have a gearbox oil filter, I know as I have fitted one.

Yes it is a gauze plastic encapsulated filter, that I would rather change once in a blue moon rather than rinse the old one out.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUTO-GEARBOX-A-T-VALVE-BODY-FILTER-for-Delica-L400-2-8TD-3-0-V6-1997-2000/382140700853?hash=item58f95c58b5:g:JPgAAOSw9Z1aYdRv

My Audi says in the book that I have an unserviceable gearbox re- filter and oil, / sealed for life / yet I have had the oil and filter changed at a VAG specialists because they advised I should, I want the best for it, I want it to last and not prematurely wear out or fail.

If you don’t want to change your gearbox oil filter then don’t, simple, but don’t pretend that there isn’t one there. :D

Nobody said there isn't one, so I don't see why you made that comment, unless you didn't fully read what was written, in your haste to reply.

Note that although your link shows MitzyBits sell an unbranded aftermarket filter and sump gasket on Ebay, I only said I was 'unaware' that they sold one. It isn't listed on their main website and like many others I don't use Ebay.  NB: I have had three Deli's since 2006 and have never had a need to replace the transmission filter on any of them.

Being a person who doesn't 'assume' garages are always pucker what I am trying to establish here is if the garage actually fitted it. It is not a simple task, like changing an oil filter, so incurs additional time and costs, so some places will omit work, yet still charge for it.

You said it !

Unless you are typing under duress and somebody has made you type it.  Laughing

To be fair you have always had an issue with this subject, and TBH I don't care, but I do find it odd, especially when you are usually/always spot on with your other advice posts.

I see what you mean, it is a matter of interpretation.  :D

By No servicable filter I am referring to there being no 'normal end user' servicable item, in the same way as a fuel, oil or air filter. Mitsu, like others fit it as a sealed for life unit.  So that is why I say that.

But I keep forgetting that some Deli owners are not 'normal end users'; I guess I will have to start lumping in the transmission sump filter, rocker cover filter (baffles), engine sump filter........

At least I don't need to buy anymore air filters .  Laughing

Plus there is a filter in the tank, and a filter behind the digital heater screen.  Laughing

My L300 light comes on randomly, occasionally within a minute of starting. It also comes on for longer, more predictably, on long, steep inclines in the summer. The first I put down to dodgy or damp connections, the second to making it work a bit harder than it likes. I keep a check on the ATF for colour change and smell. So far so good, 3 years on.

PS, that is 3 years from removing the gearbox sump, cleaning the metal gauze filter, and refilling with clean ATF. Symptoms less frequent than previously.

I remember having exactly same issue with mine [previous L400]and it continued after transmission fluid change.  I remember getting it changed on a long run but it still flashed on the return journey on motorway incline had to pull into service station.

Never got it resolved, but it ended up failing gasket test so sold it for pennies, but I'm not linking the two.

Hope you find the answer,be very interested to see.

hello all...been a while!
so i finally got diagnostics done and it came up as fault 11 which seems to mean the tps sensor is on the blink. could anyone point me in the direction of where i get a new one, how much i should be spending and how easy is it to change etc. garage is gonna look at it on Wednesday. I've been scouting round the internet but there seems to be so many variety of these things. I'm not mechanically minded but if its an easy job to swap the sensor i might have a go my self. any help would be appreciated and a link to the actual part would help an awful lot! ...also any videos or pictures of this thing... i know its on the fuel pump.. cheers for any advice.
