How economical are Deli's out there... I recently did an 800 mile trip and spent roughly £160 on diesel..how does that compare?  I was really pleased,  as it wasn't so different from a regular family car also on the trip (1.6).

Does it sound good by others measures?  This was average 50mph on A road and 60 on motorways, purely for the fuel economy.  Also rip-roared up some real steep narrow climbs (weeeee!).

That seems to work out at around 29mpg which is very very good for a L400 (?) auto Delica.

I once got a similar figure by very careful driving, tyres pumped up hard etc.
A more normal figure for mixed driving would be low to mid 20's, but all dependant on your right foot..

Well done - you may have the holy grail - an economical Delica!!
Dave.

Real good that, I use £60 to do 200 miles, at about 55mph, but I'm on 31" mud tyres

I think round town that average is spot on , I think that's what I'd expect to get like around 18-20mpg.

It's a manual.

On a longer trip I take the bigger roads and go steady, but some of that mileage was windy lanes of Kernow, so brought the average down a fair bit I think, all those hill climbs too.

I've only ever checked mine on long weekend runs, mostly motorway and A roads, 55 - 65mph on the motorways, and it usually returns 28-29 mpg. Same spec as Ian's. Can't speak highly enough of it. I just get in it and drive, and change the fluids and filters when needed. Watch, now - it will break down on the way to AO this weekend!

Ha!  Yeah, but we don't hold with fate!  So it'll be fine.

I have a long run to do tomorrow, so will be doing another economy check.

Where's AO??
