I really need a break - Also need an excuse for the break
Anyone up for a mini meet
My preference = S.West - Wales - Last & least, N.West as far as the Lakes.
Least, because its a long journey Tho, I'm not averse to Coniston Hall campsite

My last 'long distance meet' for this year is going to be Adventure Overland in 2 weeks time, Deker. But if you fancy the long trek to Cumbria, I'd be happy to show you some nice (tarmac) lanes in the North Pennines/North Lakes, including Tan Hill. Bear in mind, I am working 5days a week at the mo (I need to!) _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Scrub the above.
Speedo no worky, can only get 3.5 gears - Probably goes into O/D, and no torque converter lock up.
Or the other way Using the HOLD switch helps. But not the full top gear.
Suspect/hoping its just the speed sensor drive gear, usually made of plastic.
Speedo started playing up in the hot weather on the way to Wales, I suspect G/Box got hot and helped to melt the plastic gear
Too busy helping another member at the mo, to look at mine.

Speedo sorted
Replaced the electronic drive unit (sensor)
Now - - - Where to go in Wales, for a couple of days
With late evening sociability before bedding down. At the place of sociability.
Sorry Andy, Cumbria, a bit too far, to much of a long drive home.

Hope these speedo drive problems aren't infectious - Ian's went pop on the L300 on the way to AO! Turned out to be great for late night socialising. Around a dozen Delis, a large, central gazebo in the Deli circle, with fire basket, hot food buffet, and much imbibing and craic. Best yet, despite the weather, and less than usual exhibitor stands. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

My poor Delica is feeling lonely - - - Needs other Delica company.
As in my first post above, anyone fancy meet for 1 or 2 nights in mid-ish Wales
This coming Saturday. And know of a campsite, that has/or is very close to a pub for evening sociability.
Need something to do, now the sun sets early

Saturday 29 2018.
So, off to West Wales, Porthgain, wanted to see the sunset, as usual was delayed, and got there after dark
View of harbour looking at old slate works
One very lonely Delica in the car park
The Sloop Inn pub, to the left of this pic. very nicely cooked scampi, fries N peas, good portion too, tho a tad pricey at £10.30, but worth it.
The car park, one can park there, even after imbibing in the pubs wares (2 1/2 pints 8-) ) of very nice beer served at ambient temperatures.
Car park is lit all night, I could not get to sleep even after working in the morning, and driving 290 miles,
a nice meal and a pint or two.
After the pub closed (to public) I chatted to locals, who just happened to be the chefs - - - We got served beer
Typical of me, to get friendly with the right folks
Would I go there again IF, I could find a campsite very close to the harbour.
It is a very tourist/y place, plus, the locals like it
On the way home I visited a friend in Coleford, Gloucester.
To get there I used the Heads of the Valleys road from Merthyr Tydfil to Abergavenny, What a road :D
It is a new road, still being constructed, the views are stunning, at one point the road is 1340 feet high.

Hi Deker, I had a look around the area on Google earth - lots of nice little lanes and coves.
Porthgain looks fascinating, and I was wondering what those amazingly industrial ruins were
doing so incongruously in that little harbour. Time you made yourself some insulated bubble
wrap blinds - or get a sleeping mask (I have both) _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Nearest appears to be a mile away:- http://www.virtualtenby.co.uk/campsites.asp?in=Porthgain _________________
