I have just bought an L400, so far turned out to be all I expected and more........but I have just discovered that it has a locking wheel nut on each wheel, with no tool to undo/unlock them.
Is there a standard tool for the job/tool for Deli's/somehwere I can get one/or do I have to rip the darn things off and buy a new set?!!!
I have a new set of front brake pads that are going to be fitted in 3 days!....if I can get the wheels off!
Any help/info appreciated.
Thanks, Mike. |

Hi Mike and welcome to the club :D
You could try going to a good motor factors and obtaining a socket called a Gator grip its a normal socket with loads of pins inside that mold to the shape of the nut, this may well help yoou get them off,if not then try a tyre dealer or alloy wheel shop as they have ways and means of removing them as well, the last option is to get a socket one size smaller than the nut and hammer it over the nut to remove it,but that can be a bit expensive as u need the same socket for each wheel, hope that helps give the gator grip a go as i think it will do it all the best

Alternatively, Draper make a locking wheel nut remover that may work, depending on the sort of wheelnuts you have. It's like a socket but with a left hand thread interally. Only costs a tenner for 2 of them and they can be used again and again and again. You whack it on with an impact driver (the £12 sort you hit with a hammer) and it undoes the nut.
Nuts are knackered afterwards but they're no good without the key anyway! _________________ Pete
