Hi fellow Delica Star Wagon owners. Just a bit of help if anyone can?
I've a Star Wagon 2.5 diesel 1991 have had a real squeaking from the front end belt set up, today reached power steering, fan,and ac, belts right spec etc, still have a really nasty squeal nut not under load on the move only on the throttle fir a few minutes when idling. Help? |

Mine's been squealing a lot, particularly when first starting out after having been standing, usually okay when I've been driving around a bit. I suspect the alternator belts, at least one of them feels quite slack. Would also explain why it goes away after a wee while driving around, perhaps when the battery voltage has risen a bit? _________________ 1992 L300 Exceed "Selma" |

Thanks for your input. sounds exactly the problem I'm having. I've put new belts on tensioned correctly but its still making that horrible noise until it's warmed up and on the move. any idea how to lubricate behind pulleys if it were a bearing gone in tensioner or any of the pulleys it would happen constantly. Alternator belts fine, alternate pulley? |

Check your battery voltage before starting , and also last thing after switching off. As these engines tend to be such instant starters, you may not notice a failing battery until one morning it just turns over slowly, but won't fire. Obviously, if the battery is losing power overnight, then it puts extra turning resistance on the alternator, which reduces as the battery is charged up. An extra turn or two on the adjuster can often be enough to prevent squealing if you only get first few seconds ssquealing. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

As said if your battery is low and she starts there is a heavy load on the alternator for a short while as it brings the battery back up and this can cause belt squeal if they need a little more tension. _________________ Ian.
