Yup they're barrel jelly fish. We've had thousands of them over the last few summers.
The sea temperature conditions and directions have been perfect for them for the last three years, so they all hit the South coast about the same time. Not the nicest things to walk into in the sea, but harmless.
Hit one of them kitesurfing one afternoon, sent me flying [and not in the stylish way]
The ones to watch out for are much smaller, with a brown radial pattern on a clear body. They're called compass jellyfish and they do sting....
