Just trying to gauge interest for a Northern meet, some time this year. As it probably helps to have a fairly central and easily accessible venue, but one not too high up or exposed,  I somehow came up with Clitheroe, where there are two good campsites near the river (I'm thinking early summer here, before the midges go mad), one right next to a good pub, but not as highly rated as one 400 yards away from the same pub, but right on the river bank. But other venue suggestions  and dates welcome, especially if you know from good experience. I would just like to get a meet going,

Count me in for a Northern Meet! I'm flexible, happy to drive a fair way - Clitheroe sounds good to me. I'd like to come to Devon in the summer too but given the distance it will have to depend a little on time/resources.

That's a good start! I'll make some enquiries. The more the merrier! Couples, families, and non-northerners welcome too!

May have to find an alternative to Clitheroe, as Lewis has discovered we would have to pay  CC membership and they don't like groups as they are family orientated. Watch this space, a northern meet will happen!

Ah... that's a shame!
It's a bit further north, but how about Masons Campsite in the southern end of the Yorkshire dales, near Skipton?
Not quite sure whether groups wouldn't be a problem here either,

Coniston! Up for that - but then again I realise that would be a pretty long distance for most people?

That is my fear with Coniston, but Coniston Hall Farm is casual enough to let us on and not too dear. Masons looks like  it might take us, also quite central, but their pricing could be a bit pricey!  I'll contact them.

A) I'll contact them.

A) Don't bother on my part. Me no like the look of that place  Sad

For the extra 50 odd miles, I would prefer Coniston. Probably get the extra fuel cost back, by way of (possibly) cheaper at Coniston.

Sides that - Do the same as last meet there, use as a stopping off point, to go on to Scotland to visit friend - - -
IF I can afford it --- Company Takeover = A nasty downgrade in my income  Evil or Very Mad

If my field was more accessible, ( ie not have to reverse around a u turn through a stone gateway with max 3" clearance each side)  I would suggest a free meet here!   Sorry to hear about the job, I usually invest in a few 20L catering cans of veg oil for the summer season, so its well through the system before the cold, waxing weather returns. Mixed in tank, 50/50, initial start tickover is a bit lumpier, but apart from that and smelling like a chip shop, it saves 10% -15% on fuel costs. On your 1,000 mile round trip, thats a saving of around £30, I reckon. You can always stay/ camp here at Blencarn on your way, too. Cheese and pickle toasties, or bacon butties w.h.y. with suitable Scottish golden lubricant  also provided for the weary traveller.!

Now, let's try this with paragraph line space/s, & new line for sentence/s. Should be easier to read  Wink  But then, it could be, my ancient eyesight  Sad
Note for Mr. Mod. I've been here before with Andy. It's a bit of "Banter"  Wink

1) I thought there was plenty of space  Question  Must be mistaken  :?

2) That's life, bl--dy modernist ideas  Evil or Very Mad  might have to work 6 nights again  Crying or Very sad
I do use VG on journeys, my car does not like much above 15% mix  Sad  Have found, a little petrol helps.

3) As I've said previously, I do like having trees around me. Toasted Cheese N Pickle sandwich = yummy  Smile Scot's lube helps a lot indeed  Laughing

With or without a Northern Meet, if I go to Scotland this year, I will pop in, either on way up, or down.
