May I suggest while you are modding that you add a hefty counterweight to the back end to keep it gripping the road under heavy braking. Or fit ABS for the same reason. There is a post on here by a member who has fitted the Lexus V8 into his L400 _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Thanks for the reply, But the L300 and L400 are totally different as you know L300 engine between the seats lot less room. found some posts about fitting one in the L400 but didn't really help, don't know what you mean about the counter weight though, |

Sorry, I wasn't sure if you were concerned with connecting to transmission plus connecting up fuel and electronics/electrics rather than just physical dimensions, and I only know of the Lexus/L400 combo. As for the weighted rear end, I have had some scary swerves under heavy braking due to the back end almost lifting off. I am convinced that is why the back bench is so heavy. Recent scary moment was with bench removed. I have seen a video of an L300 literally lifting off at the rear under emergency braking. I still love it tho'! _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

The guy who owns SVS garage in Verwood has put a land-rover v8 into his L300 but not sure if it's working yet. He was a member on here but don't think he's posted in quite a while. He did some work on my L400 when I was hard pressed for time. Did a good job too.
Try searching him out for some advice _________________ A Little Knowledge is Dangerous and expensive! especially if your me Mending anything!! |

Thanks for the reply's and info. got a bit more to go on, now I know what you mean about the counter weight lol. All ready removed the rear bench seat just having it as a four seater, making it into a day van. Keeping the four wheel drive sussed the adapter plate and torque converter spacer just need to fit a 8" lift to get the engine in and 35`s on. thanks again. |

8" lift? I take it you are going to lower the whole engine and drive train to keep your prop and drive shaft angles sensible? You will also need to lower your front suspension mounts to keep everything more or less level. Or do I hear the sound of eggs being sucked?!! _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Well its always good to hear other peoples advice as you never know if you've missed something out, But yes keeping everything in line, all ready had a 4" lift on just had a new pair of 5" rear leaf springs made, collecting all the parts i think i need so can just get on fitting it up. |

Quick update, 8" C channel sorted for lift cut to size, engines been run on a test frame and most of the wiring loom made, engine fits far enough up in the chassis rails, looking at converting the rear axle to discs, been a few month's but now back to working on it, if any one as any info on back axle would be nice to know. |

I reckon if it can pull 5,000 rpm in top, you will be doing around 115 mph! Dunno how it will stand up to the extra power, likewise the transmission. Then add the strain added by the larger wheels. Be gentle with your right foot! _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Thats my only concern, don't know what these boxes can handle, like you said with the extra strain with the big wheels and more power. but I'm not doing it for speed just to stop it slowing down on big hills lol, and the fact I've rebuilt the head gasket twice, and should be a lot quieter in the cab. |

I haven't heard of these breaking diffs or axles so they can't be weak. Auto boxes also have a good rep for reliabillity, you just have to look at some of the extreme off-road videos to see how tough these vehicles are, with only head/gasket problems letting the side down occasionally. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

That is genuinely one of the scariest things I've read on the internet Can you imagine that in a L300?! I shit myself at 75mph! |

I have only done 75 once in mine, - downhill, of course. It felt quite safe and stable, just a bit too much wind noise! _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Not posted for well over a year. Engine adaptor plate finally done, engine and gear box bolted together, just need to fit it in. 9" lift finished. :D |
