Hi, as a new member I thought it would be nice to meet up with other members and wondered if the club tried to have quarterly, or Christmas meets or anything similar ?
I'm based in Yorkshire but would quite happily drive an hour or so to meet up with fellow Delica owners. Being a forum member elsewhere I know this is always difficult to pull together with people being all over the place, and not being available on certain Saturday's/Sunday's.
Is it a case of stick up a time n a place n hope people turn up ? Pre Christmas meet might be nice ?

Clive

We used to have a regular Yorkshire meet, but not for the last few years.

See:- http://www.MDOCUK.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=78252

Though in answer to your question it's an 'unofficial' rules that whoever suggests it organises it.  Laughing

Yes Lewis I think I've come across that unofficial rule before  Laughing
okay well I'll look into somewhere to meet up the. That's kinda central. Any interest for willingness to attend will be appreciated and help find a more central location.

Meets are sporadic I have been to a few around the country and had a jolly time we also had a regular monthly offroad meet for five years till life and breakdowns got in the way though we still get out now and again.

Anywhere in Yorkshire would suit me. And the benefit of going to a do in a Deli, is that you can sleep it off in the back!

PS Just make sure that there is enough parking for a herd of Delis!

Look in the post down from yours.  Clue = Wales  Wink  A thread started by Rob from RCT Wales, (not Royal Canadian Territories)

Looks like Andy wants to stay local to his area - shame, I've not seen him for 6 months  Sad

I think New Year would be best, Sat. - Sun. being the 2nd & 3rd, and Monday the 4th - being Bank Holiday.

So, Stay Sat & Sun. nights, go home Monday.

That means you will come to Wales for a New Year meet - Yes   Smile  Question

The place I have in mind is a bit far, tho not too far from Strata Florida, where you could happily damage your present vehicle.

I wouldn't say Barnsley is local, Deker, -  about half way between me and thee. I'm assuming Clive would chose a local venue as he would likely know the best places near his home.

Hi, i did see the Wales one, i was just hoping to get some feedback/interest from members and then try and find somewhere "centralish" to everyone.
I have no qualms about driving a good hour or so either way if we can get a few people together. Not sure Wales was my intended destination though having just driven down t Barry to pick it up i fancy somewhere a tad closer  Laughing
Do like the idea of doing something just after new year in the lull though.

B1) If Clive could find a pub out of town, (Peak District not far from Barnsley (which I have NOT seen much of, P.D. that is   Sad - ))
that sells nice evening meal and allows overnight parking, I'm up for it - with at least 2 other members.

Peak District, possible snowbound pub at NewYear, - sounds like fun to me!  Gonna have a look-see on line.

It should not cost you more than about £130.

Unless your Deli (or whatever you are using at the mo) ain't running right - Probably more down to wearing Lead Boots  Shocked

Les sez in his Avatar note = "Wherever i park up"

The answer is simple Les - Park up closer to that area  :D

So - See you there then  Question  Wherever there is  Exclamation

1) Not if you intend to sleep in it at that time of year! It's arctic up there. They'd have to wake you up with an ice axe! But superb in warmer seasons. Best to visit in 4WD on an Alpine crisp lunchtime, but sleep in a cosier dale bottom car park.
2) Yes, and plenty of lumpier areas for Delis!

I was looking at lower Peak District Pubs - there are 2 with large car parks at Baslow on the A619 west of Chesterfield, - the Wheatsheaf, and the Devonshire Arms, and there is also a large open public council car park without height limit within 100 yds. Fairly central from all points of the compass.

You need to stop carrying all that mud around!
Alternative pub:- The  George at Alstonefield, proper Peak District, pretty village pub with good sized secluded car park at the rear. There's loads to choose from. There's one on the A515 with attached camp site, but right on the main road, and very bleak.

I'm up for this, location is not an issue (May take a day or two to land but I'll get there!)

I'm available from the evening of the 2nd (Dj'ing at a local nightclub on the 31st and 1st) until the 5th, so anytime around that suits me fine....Location doesn't matter either, up for it wherever....Will be sleeping in the back of 'Missy' (As my wife's fondly named her) anyhow, prove my manliness lol
