Hi all,

After much thinking about it and putting it off, I finally got rid of my old Defender and got a Delica Smile

It's the 8 seater, SWB Chamonix version - but I think I may have made a miscalculation. I'm want to transport a bike in the back, but the centre bench seat looks like it might cause problems.

So my question is - in what ways can you move the central seat? I know I can fold up the end to make it a 2 person seat. And the whole thing rotates, and slides back and forth. Is there anything else? I was under the impression that it could fold up against the wall, but I can't work out how, and now I wonder if I got confused having viewed several different models in quick succession!

I have the 8 seater like you - I don't think the middle seat folds up as the base would be too bulky. Think you are stuck with folding flat, moving forward or back or rotating to the side. Would bike not fit in with seat rotated and rear seats folded up?
Is it a push bike or motorcycle?

Motorbike, but only a small trail bike.

I think it'll probably work with the rear seats folded up, and the centre seat rotated 90 degrees and pushed as far away from the door as possible. Then put the bike between the centre seat and the side door.

I can't try it out right now though as I work away from home during the week Sad

Also I want to get some seat covers or something to protect the seats before I start shoving dirty bikes in there Smile

i have an 8 seater and i got my son's husky trials bike in the back by folding the rear seats up and turning the middle row so that the back is on the offside. the front wheel goes down the side towards the sliding door,the most awkward bit was getting it in as we had to lift the bike up level to get the handlebars in without scrapeing the roof lining,once in no problem.

If you don't need the centre seats - take 'em out!

Only a few bolts - if you need to people carry, just drop the back seats down as required.

A bit weird sitting right at the back like that, but it serves the purpose........

What I usually do is face the the centre set facing backwards and just cover them with an old blanket - with what you are transporting - the front wheels can just sit on the bench seat - protect with something a bit more substantial if required but easy enough.

That is the beauty of the Delica - versatile!

I have carried stuff which no other vehicle apart from a van can carry...............King size mattresses - fridge freezers - 3.2m lengths of wood! - That was bloody funny in B&Q car park.........stand it upright - drop it down like a lance - walk forward placing right up to dash......then close the back door......

Then watch jaws drop everywhere!
