Had a thought today (yes its unusual and dangerous for me to do that), and it struck me that myself and a few others have had difficulty or issues doing some repairs and maintenance, and since the sad loss of Lewis's excellent photo library which we all miss, how about a meet somewhere where if possible, some members would be happy to share their know how and experience to others on how to fix things. The idea being that it would be a nice social event, people could learn how to do repairs to keep their Deli on the road, and we could possible make videos/take photos as a future library as a start to replace what was lost. My intention is not to take money away from those who are mechanics by trade and make a living from it, but something that would be beneficial for the club as a whole. And before anyone asks, I've got no idea of a venue etc. Is there any mileage in this? |

1) Careful Boyo.
2) Did notice.
3) Problem I find with piccies, is they are in 2D, looking at real metal, it is in 3D.
4) I'm up for that --------- 4A) I agree on that
4B) Bet you have 8-) Elan Valley (Mountain Road, twixt Rhayader & Devils Bridge, Aberystwyth)
has loads O space/places for lots of Deli's etc to jack up park up
It's a great place to be, on calm Sunny Summer days, and for those who have never been there :o
It really struck me on my first visit, to my (limited) knowledge, there is no where else on this Island quite like that valley.
All 18+ miles of it

I seem to recollect mention of a 'Mending Meet' on here 2 or 3 years ago, with pics, which was hailed by all who attended as a good do, lots of bacon butties and bevvies consumed and many problems sorted, friendships made etc. I think it would make a good excuse for a meet, - "Bring yer spanners and bits", even if you don't need fixing! Would need to be somewhere with plenty of parking/camping space, and ideally somewhere you could keep a dismantled Deli dry if it came on to rain. Anyone got a small marquee and a suitable field, somewhere reasonably central, or other suitable venue/farm buildings/land? I think anyone hosting this would be worthy of grateful donations! _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

We had an event like this in Liverpool some tears ago.
I think we managed to change 7 or 8 cam chains in the day.
One thing to remember is you need hard standing, bit dangerous jacking up a Deli in a field.
So, yes the idea has merit, run with it. _________________ There is a man with a mullet going mad with a mallet in Millets |

On reasonably dry, firm ground, you can jack up off scaffold boards, with double chocks fixed to boards for the grounded wheels. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

sounds a great idea
there's nothing needing doing particularly on my LWB (other than bodywork)
but if its an opportunity to put in a new split link cam chain, for example, why not ?
I would be more interested in seeing other delicas (mods) etc and getting ideas (in the detail) |

If anyone has any ideas for suitable venues, let's have them......I think we would need at least the following
Somewhere for people to camp
Toilets, showers
A nearby pub would be great
Somewhere under cover very useful
Access to electricity useful
And cheap and easy to get to. |

The yard is hard core so you can camp on it would just need an airbed or a Delica to keep you off the ground, I can ask the landlord when I next see him if anyone is interested. _________________ If its not broken fix it till it is |

Pub 2 miles - - - 2 yards (okay, make 20 yards) be nearer the mark.

Stefan - how many Delicas have you got space for? Being so central, you could be overrun! Deker - no need for a pub, just bring your own booze, - and a big coat! PS Stefan - is that a whole Spridget, or just a one-piece front-end? _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Hi, I'm on my 4th Delica and seem to be addicted.
Would love to meet other Deli nuts so please keep me posted.
Her indoors loves the Deli and has agreed to camping! |
