Hi My L400 chamonix-mont-blanc 1999 temperature gauge never worked properly.

When I start the engine the needle move VERY slowly to a position 2mm above the C sign. Nothing change if I disconnect the connector on the sensor (I would have expected to go back to 0).
If the engine is warm then the glow plug indicator on the dash only light for a fraction of second as expected. Does it mean the sensor is working fine?

I looked at the posts about the engine temperature sensor on the forum and I tried few things but I'm a bit confuse with the wiring and the readings I've got.
The sensor itself has two wires. one black and one Green/yellow so it looks a bit different from what has been describe on the other posts. (see sensor in pictures attached).

- First I've tried to put the green/yellow wire from the sensor connector to GND but the needle doesn't move.
- Then I've checked the gauge itself with a 9v battery between the IGN and the TU on the back of the gauge itself and it seems to work fine (needle move to max).
So I though the wiring is the problem.

The Black cable on the sensor connector (disconnected from the sensor) when tested with an ohm-meter seems to be going straight to GND.
I though the Green/Yellow would be going straight to the TU connector on the gauge but when I test it I've got 3K ohm????
I can also read few Kohm between the black and the green/yellow on the connector when disconnected from the sensor.

I'm not a mechanic or electrician so I would welcome any suggestion.

Thanks
