I don’t post that often but sadly this t****r caught me as well. I was totally off my guard a few weeks ago when my bus failed it’s MOT for very severe corrosion underneath. I was told unrepairable unless I was prepared to get very extensive welding work done. But since I owned it for nearly 10 years felt it time to let it go and if the chassis is bad then rest is as well.

Caught sight of his clever ad’s on the well known auction site and fell for it hook, line and sinker. Especially when he was willing to take mine in a trade in – I jumped too quick which is not like me.

Had I been parting with big money this would not have happened but just goes to show your heart can rule your head.

He said all the advisory faults on the latest MOT were sorted – one was and still working through the faults not listed.

I’ll put this right as best I can but the next one I get will be newer and RAC inspected.

As in previous posts in this thread don’t touch this guy with a Barge Pole!

Rant over…..

sort of off topic, but it all reminds me of someone similar but the opposite end of the country from the not too distance past...same sort of attitude and 'service'....I'm sure some of the regulars will remember.

Wished I'd seen this thread 6 months ago. I drove up from London to see his Delicas this summer. He was very nice and was happy to have a mechanics inspection, so I put a deposit on one of his Delicas which we agreed would be refundable if any major faults were found. Cut a long story short the mechanic concluded car wasn't roadworthy (a very long list of MOT fails - I'd been told they'd been sorted...) and Dean refused to pay back deposit. Still waiting... I've had to go through the courts. Expensive learning experience but could have been worse. Hopefully the bailiffs can deliver him my Xmas card!

He has loads of adverts on Preloved now. Waxing lyrical about his "experience" with Delicas !

For the prices he is asking, they should be mint, but from past records, will more likely be well polished faecal matter.

I wasn't going to post anything but.....this is from the other side of the coin, at the end of last year I needed an engine, working out on site doesn't leave me much time to source things and get jobs done so I got a workshop that does some work for me to find an engine, they found one (I didn't know from who) and cost delivered was £550 with all ancil's still fitted and arrived within 48hrs, Engine looked good and was duly fitted the only parts extra were a set of new glow plugs as it was coming up to winter and easy access. It fired up straight away and runs very very sweet, pulls well, no smoke and I can quite easily believe its only done the 89k stated. The seller was dean from nw6import...Now he didn't know who we were, where from or that i use this forum so to be honest its not all bad news and I do know others that have had good service too, so as I've stated before on this thread and others, yes, its buyer beware and that should relate to any sale, plus you should inspect ANY vehicle you buy, but in MY personal case it was a perfect deal.

And that's the rub some people want to lynch him others name their firstborn after him as said he can't have all shite for sale and nowt else but maybe it was best he did not know the engine was for you. :D

this is the thing...I'm all for being warned if there could be a problem forewarned is forearmed and all that, so everyone should make their own opinion I can only speak of my personal experience, and if he does have a part you need...well maybe we shouldn't burn all the bridges eh?

I've been following as I've needed parts, I recon by all the info here is that this guy is just throwing stuff out there without checking anything. If you're lucky the part works, if not the whole car is a MOT failure.
He couldn't give a F, either way, he just wants the money.

We've been warned by some one who actually knows his stuff, and has in many ways proven his worth.

Now you have all the elements it's up to you to throw the dice........ :?

I got a refund in January 2014 after a Deli he advertised on Ebay did not get delivered when he said it would and he was getting protective about me wanting to give it a good inspection before I bought it. To be fair to him I got a refund

Also to add, his service wasn't too professional and felt like a two-bit operation which got me worried.
