Brake lights coming on when she's been stood a while.
No air in system and no leaks, pedal is not soft but a couple of presses cures it for a while.
Plenty of fluid in the master.
Pity they're not ignition controlled.

Possibly an iffy brake switch under the pedal ?

Without looking, I assume the brake switch is like other cars, normally closed and is pushed in by the pedal being held against when its at the top, so I would guess the pedal is sagging for some reason?

Know the electrical side, was wondering if something was causing the pedal to drop.

It doesn't do it straight away, sometimes takes a week before the lights come on.
Carol has to pump the pedal a couple of times, she also runs the gear selector through
the gears as that was seized up when I got home last time.

Ian, I don't know how much salt spray or salty air gets on your Deli (although you have previously discussed the amount of corrosion you experience in your Deli's roof.) Have you taken off the switch and dismantled it to see if you are getting sufficient salt build up on terminals to bridge them and allow current flow? Or corrosion, causing the switch to stick in the 'on' position, even if the pedal spring is strong enough to bring it back off the switch?  I don't even know if this is a possibility, but a good clean up and if possible, adjustment, often cures a problem like this. Incidentally, my brake light switch had to be replaced 2 MoTs ago, I think it only cost about a tenner.

Definitely cheaper than a new battery, after the switch flattened the old one  8-)

Ian gets lots of salt corrosion on his Deli in the Falklands, but the brake light problem is on the one he has in England, that his wife Carol uses.  Wink

Well as it's Mitsi UK, I'd fit a new one - it's an easy job, so even if it has to be done by a garage, they'd be robbing you if they charged for more than 1/2 an hour labour. Nice photos, BTW, Ian, and Mitsi UK looks VERY tidy. Falkland looks very bleak, but with a wild beauty that will have you  dreaming about it long after you leave.

Batteries!! and Carol checks everyday that they are not on.
Have a solar panel to keep the batteries up.
Will sort it next leave.

Basic thinking:
if the pedal sags, I would keep it up with some rubber band, or rebend the spring that (presumably) keeps it up.
If it is the switch itself, either clean or replace.

I by the way never understood why the brake lights are not turned off by the ignition key. I do not know any other vehicle with that "feature", really thought my L300 was messed up electrically when I saw it first time.

Hope Carol doesn't get rear-ended in the meantime! (if you know what I mean.) Rolling Eyes
