Not vital you change it - but most people think it is a good idea and pretty simple job (2 bolts)........it is worth checking mileage on a few tanks before changing then you may see a difference after fitting.....

Razz Welcome to the club......

Hi matey and welcome. If it aint broke don't fix it (bit corny!) Seriously, I would have fitted one if I hadn't dropped it into the engine Embarassed But I aint bothered to put another in although I have bought one. Not causing me any probs (touch wood) doesn't smoke any more than any other diesel cars so why bother?? May see you at Southport.

Catch you later

At the weekend I decided whilst fitting new batteries to remove my EGR blanking plate that has been fitted for about a year (I think :? )

As VIRGINDELICAOWNER said above "If it ait broke don't fix it" well........

When I fitted the plate the Deli was running fine just the same as before fitment, no difference what so ever, so I left the plate fitted anyway.

Thought I would remove removing the plate to see if there would be any difference now I'm keep a check on my fuel consumtion, while removing the plate I found a piece of metal up the vacuum pipe so I removed that also, now at this point I should have worked out that it had been blanked off before I even got the Deli but removed all the blanking bits and checked the movement in the EGR, all appeared okay
Run the motor for a while and had a bit of a rev up, all seamed fine

Went to go to work this morning and just as the engine warmed up about 2 miles away I gave it a bit more throttle It engine stared to knocking lots Shocked I then had a look in the mirror and there was a BIG cloud of smoke behind me Shocked (don't remember driving through that :? ) Laughing

I had also been cleaning the engine at the weekend (still finding mud) and it sounding like I might have got water in the engine type of noise Shocked Sad
Limped it back home and refitted the plate and also blocked the pipe off again, and I'm pleased to say it is all well again cheers

Couldn't believe the noise and smoke just through unblocking the EGR, won't be removing that again pale

p.s. Welcome along Ian Wink

Don't know about more economical, it just wouldn't drive Shocked Laughing

Than again perhaps it would be more economical because I'ld have to leave it at home Laughing
